St Mirren Summer Soccer Schools 2012

St Mirren in the Community are delighted to announce details of our 2012 Summer Soccer Programme, in partnership with the Scottish FA.
Running over all six weeks of the school holidays, the Camps are designed for boys and girls of all abilities and ages and we aim to provide the highest quality football coaching with the emphasis on fun and safety.

We have also added our popular Advanced Player Development Camps, a training camp at the first team training base at Ralston and a Girls Only Week.
As well as the outfield player camps we will also be running Goalkeeper Only Camps in the afternoons.

St Mirren manager Danny Lennon – who is a big fan of the camps – said,
“St Mirren Soccer Schools are a great way for young kids to enjoy playing football, improve their skills and interact with other players.
Many of the drills and skills that are coached on the camps are very similar to what is delivered in the Club’s development programme.
The Soccer School’s emphasis is fun. If young players enjoy what they are learning, it will establish a great base to a lifetime of long term football participation…..Enjoy your football!”

Spl Tv Money. Saints Cut?

What is our cut of the Sky tv money each season? I thought the deal was in the region of £80 million over 5 years with the old firm getting 80% of the money and the other 10 clubs getting the other 20%. Is this right? £320,000 a year?
I must have picked this up wrong as it must be worth more than this.

Some Great Stats From Danny Lennon

Just noticed this from Danny Lennon, whilst checking out his statement of the agent wrecking the careers of Tess and Nigel. Obviously a little disappointing that he didn't come right out and condemn scumgers as satans bumbagina. However, an excellent wrap up of last season and invitation to support the team in the new season:

Quote

The 2011/2012 season will be remembered as a year of progress for us. Opinions will vary as to how much progress has been made, but you can’t argue with facts. Here is a run down of the achievements regarding our rollercoaster journey of progress this season. We have scored our highest number of top flight goals since 1989 (23 years). We have enjoyed our highest number of games undefeated in the top flight since 1988 (24 years). We achieved our best goal difference in the top flight since 1985 (27 years), our highest top flight league position since 1989 (23 years) and our highest number of top flight points since 3 points for a win were introduced in 1992 (20 years).
We have also seen the quality of our play recognised with Paul McGowan winning SPL Player of the Month for December and Kenny McLean winning SPL Young Player of the month in October, whilst being short listed for SPL Young Player of the Year. Craig Samson was called into the Scotland squad, Kenny McLean played the Scotland Under-21′s against Italy and both Jason Naismith and Thomas Reilly played for the Scotland Under-18′s against Serbia.
These are markers along the road on what has been an exciting journey of progress for this wonderful Club. This journey has just begun. We have plans in place to take us to continue the progression and hope to enjoy further success in the seasons to come. Year on year progress, whilst living within our financial means and developing fresh young talent, is what our Club must aim for and what we are working hard to deliver. Watch this space.
I would like to thank you, the fans, for your backing this season. We have been thrilled to receive numerous letters and e-mails regarding how pleased you are with the style in which the team is playing and how entertained you have been. I am the first to admit that there is still a lot of work to be done and there is a lot of room for improvement, but by everyone working together, giving their best, we can continue to improve and enjoy further levels of success. You have been the 12th man for us on a match day and we need great support more than ever for us to continue our progression.
I know many of you are facing tough challenges in your household finances and what I am about to put to you is a big ask. The fans are the lifeblood of this Club. You have invested so much time, money and emotion into supporting this Club over the years. I think of you every week when I am training and picking a team to put on the pitch, to wear the Saints jersey and represent your Club well. I would urge you to help your Club improve by buying a season ticket in the weeks ahead.
I believe we are potentially at the dawn of a new era for St Mirren and Scottish football. I would ask you to be united with us in our efforts to make this Club shine in this time of uncertainty. We want you to be a big part of this. All we ask is that you commit to buying a season ticket and enjoy seeing what your team does in the season ahead.
Thank you once again for your valued support.
Regards,
Danny Lennon

Message Back To Danny Lennon

Dear Danny

thanks for your email which just arrived in my inbox via the official website a few minutes ago.

I've attended St Mirren games since I was 5 years old in 1978 and agree this year's team has made good progress and is going in the right direction and playing a style of football which is a pleasure to watch.

I have been considering buying my first ever season ticket and had set up a direct debit mandate for 10000 Hours as well for £20 per month, or an expected £2k to 10000Hours. I'm putting my season ticket plans and direct debit mandate on hold until I hear how St Mirren intend to vote with regard to Rangers and financial fair play. If the club follow your advice given at last week's press conference I won't be 1) buying a season ticket in 2012/12 2) investing £2k in 10000 Hours or 3) buying any St Mirren merchandise.

Rangers are currently talking about offering their creditors who are owed up to £134m a paltry £8.5m or 6.4p in the £ and are appealing the SFA's transfer embargo and even though they are banned from signing players have already begun negotiations with the likes of Rino Gattuso in the expectation that they can overturn the SFA's original decision, and have a multi-million pound transfer war chest ready to hand to Ally McCoist if the ban is overturned.

If St Mirren vote to allow Rangers to continue as if they can walk away scot-free from leaving £125.5m debts behind and begin signing players again on multi-million pound transfer deals then no matter how much I respect the job you and the players are doing I will not be shelling out hard earned money to support a team who in turn have supported Rangers' attempts to avoid paying their substantial debts.

Some Rangers U19 players are on almost £150k a year, their reserve goalie is on £12k a week, their debt to HMRC for Craig Whyte's 10 months in charge is equivalent to 10 years of player wages at St Mirren FC... I won't be giving St Mirren my cash next season if the club are planning to let Rangers operate almost as there has been no deliberate wrongdoing on their part over 3 regimes and almost 20 years, especially when their cheating has harmed other SPl clubs and the wellbeing of Scottish football in general.

Please Buy A Season Ticket!

Just got an email from 'Danny Lennon' asking me to buy a season ticket for next year.

Perhaps if he stopped worrying about Rangers and started concentrating on replacing the players who are apparently leaving and building a team for next year , then I would do exactly that!

(I won't post the email here as I assume everyone else will have got one also)

Could Ex-Players Still Do Well For Saints?

I was reading a few posts when Shuggie was leaving and a few people were saying that it would be good to see him back at the club in some capacity in the future. It got me thinking that maybe Saints have missed a trick in the past. Other clubs seem to use ex players in different roles once they've retired and maybe Saints could as well. There may not be many jobs or maybe some players wouldn't fancy it but if jobs came up i wonder if certain ex players would be good in them.
Maybe coaching roles with the first team or various youth teams or coaching for different positions such as forward, goalkeeper etc. For instance Ludovic Roy coaching the goalkeepers, Barry Mclaughlin the defenders. Mark Yardley or Barry Lavety the forwards.
It would just be the occasional player and they would need to be able to do the job and not just get it for sentimental reasons but certain players had a real rapport with the fans and i think there would be a feelgood factor involved and they would bring in their football experience and pass on what playing for St. Mirren is all about.

Painting Of Love St

Hey folks I have a painting of Love St from the Saints Vs Celtic game a few seasons back.

As most of you will be aware there was a story in the PDE on how Gerard Docherty painted this painting for Billy Abercrombie a while ago. I also have one which is very similar to Billy Abrrcrombies the only difference being my painting has spectators in "cairters corner".

I am thinking of selling it as it is basically hidden in a cupboard, so I am looking to gauge interest.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask.
