Seems a bit strange that no one has created a matchday thread only 3 days before the game is due to be played?

Are we all so caught up in our cup exploits that this has become an afterthought?

I hope the team are more focussed on it

I'll go for a scrappy 1-0 Saints. Not saying which ones. :P

I'm nervous about this one. We have a poor recent record againt St Johnstone, and after the highs of the cup performances I fear that we could be brought back down to earth with a bump.

We certainly have the beating of the fakes, but this is a huge match given the timing and the fact that all the other diddies (with the exception of Hamilton) have been picking up points here and there of late.

I won't be going, as I've exhausted my football fund in attending the two cup matches.

A victory in this one could signal a turning point given that we'd be building on the cup games momentum. A defeat and we are well and truly in the mire.

Prediction? 1-1 for me.

Vital game.

We need a result first, granted, then a solid hungry home performance and a to demonstrate that playing for St Mirren means something. I just want to see the players giving it their all from the kick off, make no mistake , the Fakes will be right up for this one, we need to boss them, from the very first moments.

This is the kind of game that in the past has brought so much pressure on to Gus, we should imo not be seeing a mob like this in our way , yet we constantly struggle against Fakes , Ammies et al.

We are surely due someone a bit of doing in the League, let's make it this week

Simple as................Posted Image
Danny Lennon , you're priority has to be pace and width in the new St Mirren team

You're right bud, cup fever has hit hard but it's understandable - getting to a final and outplaying (if not beating, gah) one of the OF on our patch has been a nice distraction from the, lets be honest, fairly desperate league position.

It's a truly massive game as people have said. With F"kirk playing Killie there's every chance that failing to win would see us either below or level on points with one of them.

I'd like to think we'd see the 3-5-2 again as it's been night and day between the last two performances and the majority of other recent ones, but it doesn't sound certain.

Whatever the case though, we need to win this...and god knows after the recent matches against these feckers it would be great to see it.

Well here's hoping that they play Michael Duberry against us. He's past it and Billy should run rings round him :P

2-0 Buddies
Mehmet and Dargo

Narrow 1-0 home win with Higdon getting the all important goal (he surely has to score at some point?)

It's been something like 2 leagues wins from the last 14 league outings, not too hot at all.

This is a massively important game for St Mirren. The crowd should get behind the team from the off and cheer the buddies on to a crucial win, as really should be looking to get to back to winning ways in the league.

C'mon the Saints!

PS St Johnstone to bring through 310 fans, possibly even less.

Or more convincingly, we've won 2 of our last 3 home games and lost once at home since October. (League)

really important game.

1-0 Saints - Higdon scoring.

Re Higdon - relative to his season for us to date - he seems a lot better now, bit of confidence and more relaxed. he still doesnt put enough effort in sometimes in my view but he is on the way now and the goals will follow. For this game i would start with Dargo and Mehmet up front. Dargo is a pest for defences and with Grampa Duberry in the Fakes side with that line up we can put them in their place.

I hope Gus sticks with the 3-5-2 as we definitley look more creative that way.

We are more than capable of beating this lot and hopefully the players are fully aware how big a game this one is. It's bigger than the last game and it's bigger than the replay next week. Ok, it might not appear to be as exciting but I really think this game will shape the rest of our season.

I agree with you in the formation 3-5-2, however Andy Millen has said in the PDE today that we have no chance of playing 3-5-2 with a squad of 16 players. Shame as I would say we play our best football in such a system.

I think our players will be well up for this game so I’m going for a one nil win

Given the amount of games we have played recently, and the fact that fatigue must be setting in, I would like to see Loy and/or Carey getting a start on Wednesday.

If we lump high balls at Duberry he will lap it up, we need to try and play with width like we did against the Jambos.

Others have said that may be mind games.

I'm not so sure but it could be...hope so anyway.
