-I would correct the title but i dont know how so live with it-

Although Yesterdays game against ross county can't be blamed totally on danny's tactics i do believe he should take the majority of the blame due to some hurendous tactical decissions before and throughout the game. Danny's decission to play barron in the midfield was a farce as he made more successful passes to oposittion players than he did ours and even thou he was one of our worst players on the park he didn't get subbed till the 75th minute where as teale and mooy got removed at half time. Removing mooy and teale and putting another central player like thomson on to complement the 3 (Barron,Goodwin,McGowan) we aleady had made county's job of defending that much easier as we had no width in the side causing all our attacks to break down and forcing long ball that players rarely tried to win. I know nigel played as a kind of winger at times however he was more of a 2nd striker and wouldn't track back and help the full backs defensively and only caused the middle of the park to become more congested.

The reason this is not being posted in the match day thread is that I feel that poor tactical decissions are extremly common from danny throughout his time at the club and he seems to have a problem seeing how poor these decissions are when any number of saints fans could easily point out the majority of the flaws and for these reasons it needed its own topic.

Due to there being a quite a few poor tactical decissions i while just list some main ones as examples.

1.One of the worst decissions he ever made was playing a 5-3-2 formation against inverness with the strangest part of his master plan was to play teale at right wing back (takes on the responsibilities of a right midfielder and a right back).

2. The previous game was agaist c*ltic where he opted against using thompson and instead used nigel and mcgowan. Not having a big man up front meant we had no out ball and made it easier for c*ltic to defend in the 1st half.

3. Danny constantly kept overlooking carey when fit and instead went with ever teale (who as been our worst player) or thomson who i like as a player however his legs have gone and he can't keep up. One instance of this was the dunfermline game (which although we won) he dropped carey for thomson after saying he was good enough to still play at c*ltic and even though he had been our best player the previous match (Hearts 0-0).

4. Its not just this season either as he spent much of last season playing macusland at right wing back even though he wasn't a great crosser and lacked the the stamina to get up and down the flanks for the whole game (In my opinion playing as ever a right wing back or left wing back is the most pysically difficult due to the dual roles of a defender and right midfielder).

Im not calling for the managers head and i do respect that he made these decissins for the best of the team (or atleast i hope he did) however i could have easily told you what the outcome of having no width in our team would be and how much easier attacking and deffending would be for our opponents. Its also the fact that he still plays player's when there playing sh*t and is quite happy to not only keep them on for that game but keep them for the next aswell.

I also understand that the players haven't always performed and they must shoulder some of the blame (In some of the games they were the only ones at fault) and i also appreciate that once the players are on the pitch its hard for the manager to influence the game.

A decent, although one sided, post.

No mention of any games we have won I notice?

Still, a decent and fair assessment of some parts of the season although jumping aboard the "It's mainly Lennons fault" bandwagon is a tad harsh.

I keep hearing we have the best squad of players in a very long time. When I played football the result was equally down to me and the players on the pitch. Of course the manager sets out certain beliefs before the game but after the whistle blows it's mainly down to the "best squad.....................Posted Image "

It would seem we are a team in a serious position of slipping into the lower leagues.

I would suggest it would be take a real bad run, yes close to our recent run of form, combined with a major improvement from both Dunfermline & Hibs, to see us in the fight, as we have been every season since we came up.

As supporters we are probably setting difficult targets combined with some belief that we are either above our position or worse than most other teams.

I have said before, the end of the seaosn is time to reflect and take stock, not, as it mostly is, after a disappointing, result.
The older I get, the better I was.

Its a fair point about being one sided however my post is about some of the strange tactics used regardless of the result and how common I feel they are. Also i mentioned the dunfurmline game which we won 2-1

Barron = 2nd choice right back, 2nd choice left back, 4th choice central defender but now seems guaranteed a starting spot as a utility midfielder every week even though we have 10 midfielders at the club and nearly all of them (except McLean) are fit and where most of our midfielders are our form players attracting interest from bigger clubs!

Throughout November and December when results weren't going our way DL said several time  that he knew we needed to do better in the final third and convert more of our chances yet in January he frees a youth team striker, loans out our back up striker and signs a 10th midfielder!

Today was a classic example of a game where you would have wanted to be able to throw on a 2nd or 3rd striker as the game went on but because we only have 1 striker at he club all our substitutions were made to the midfield.. the hub of the team.

Barron and Tesselar were doing a perverse impression of the Chuckle Brothers;

To them, to them, to them, to them

Yet who does Danny take off at half time ?

Injuries notwithstanding, I just don't get it.

Why are we starting a game against Ross County with 2 defensive midfielders ? Well a DM and a FB/CB.

If you keep flinging darts at a dart board you're bound to hit a treble 20 once in a while.

Folk are just beginning to see what I have seen all along - Danny Lennon doesn't know what he's doing.

Two things, you will miss the treble 20 more times than you hit it and have you seen me play darts? Posted Image

I believe Danny was being sentimental yesterday is giving Div a game and consequently played a formation to suit. I am sure he has learned and I would be surprised to see Div start the next game. Lesson learned (I hope).

I still think Dannys the right man to lead us.  However his substitutions do baffle and annoy me.

Correct. We've got to give him at least half the time we gave Gus or we will be replacing our manager ever season if we were to believe some of our supporters.

Conditions played a major part on our performance yesterday however have to agree Baron is not suited to the midfield position.

We used to have a guy called Shug Murray , who was quite good at tackling and driving the team forward who would have been ideal for a game like yesterdays , wonder what he,s up to now

Thompson up front by himself isn't working, however DL sent our only other striker out on loan then spunked our transfer budget on yet another attacking midfielder Posted Image
