The Englishman also can’t wait to be reacquainted with Buddies coach Tommy Craig after they worked together at Newcastle.
Guy started his career on Tyneside before moving to Doncaster in 2004 and Craig played a key role in his decision to come to Paisley.
The striker said: “Tommy is a top coach and a great operator. He has amassed a lot of experience throughout the years.
“Tommy knows my game inside out so he can get the best out of me at St Mirren.”
The Buddies earned praise for their flowing football under Danny Lennon and Craig last term.
Lennon’s side just missed out on a top-six place and Guy now wants to help them finish in the top half for the first time.
He said: “I’ve watched a few of St Mirren’s games and have been impressed. So I’m looking forward to being part of the team.
“The manager and the players have targeted a top-six spot this season as they fell just short last term after playing so well.
“The club are desperate to finish higher up the SPL and I want to help them achieve that.
“I will do what I can to help the team fulfil their aim but first and foremost, as a striker, I have come up here to score goals
“I want to succeed in Scotland and the club ticks a lot of boxes. I want to do well here as they are a great bunch of boys and the coaching staff are fantastic.”
