Looks like a decent idea but some of the levels of cashback are ridiculously low. I see everywhere says "up to" 3% or whatever figure, will be interested to hear how much is actually making its way to the club.
Kemp, that's not the right way to look at it. In essence it is an affiliate programme and that idea is that before you make an online purchase that you check out the website to see if the retailer you were going to use is on that site and if so you use their click through and St Mirren get a percentage of your sale. Similar schemes have been running at Juvenile football club level for years with the likes of
EasyFundraisingWe've been using it at Wishaw Wycombe and Motherwell AC for years now but I have to say it general has very little success. At Wishaw Wycombe I think it's raised something like £24 over the two years which was mostly just commission from me buying my MP3's from Amazon. At MAC they managed to raise just over £300 one year which was down to the efforts of the club treasurer who used the club forum to make sure everyone knew about the latest offers that would make the club the most commission.
I'm not sure that this would be any more successful at a football club like St Mirren as at least at our level there is the charitable aspect which tugs on the heartstrings a bit - rather than a business with a turnover into the £millions. It seems more than slightly counter intuitive to me, but fair play to St Mirren for trying it.
