1976....Georgetown Cricket Ground.....Guyana 1 SMFC 4.(McGillvary 2,Richardson,McGarvey)

This was a warm up for the Guyana World Cup squad. Not sure if this is the only National team Saints have played, don't think the Isle of Man would count.

The Stadium we played at is not only a World famous cricket ground but it's where the "magic bottle" was invented!!!

Did St mirren not play South Kore one time or am I just making this up.

We played a team FROM South Korea (Hyudai IIRC) it was the only time Grant Inglis felt tall.

2012....Aaron Mooy leaves St Mirren to return to Australia.

http://onlyanexcuse.com/forum/discussion/871/aaron-mooy-leave-st-mirren-for-west-sydney

I had high hopes for Mooy, especially after the trouble we went to to sign him,but for some reason it just never worked out.

He'll always be remembered for his work rate,on the exercise bike, and for his goal in this game.....

1943....Hampden....Summer Cup Semi Final Replay....SMFC 3 Soap Dodgers 2.

Linwood x 2,Deakin.

This was a remarkable result given that the SD's had Stanley Matthews,Tommy Lawton and Billy Steele in their team. Also the StMirren keeper,Weare, got injured when we were 2-1 down and ended up playing outfield with Willie Kelly taking over in goal.

We've got that Oldco mob in the Final.

Really struggling today and have had to stoop to an all time low to keep this going....

1973.....Hampden....Friendly......Scotland 0 Brazil 1.(D Johnstone OG)

Paisley boy and brilliant midfielder,Davie Hay ran the show for Scotland but couldn't prevent his Country going down 0-1 in a closely fought encounter.

Hay went on to manage St Mirren and it's just a pity he wasn't as good a Manager as he was a midfielder. Some would say Hays managerial appointment was the start of SMFCs downfall as he squandered lots of cash on some pretty average players.Lasted a year in the job but it felt like 10!!!

Sir!

I would like to register a complaint.

The link provided is devoid of footballing interest. I also have severe scepticism over that even being an image of a footballer. mad.gif

And yet I won't complain!whistling.gif

2011...After phoning his mate Brian Caldwell and asking if he could use St Mirrens training facilities,Sheff Weds player Gary Teale ended up signing as a Saints player.

Sorry Lads,no topless pics of Mrs Teale. :(
