I genuinely believe that the club should not even entertain a bidding process kicking off at a penny less than £750,000. To be honest, when you look at the potential the lad has, and then at some of the daft money that exchanges hands for mediocre players dahn saaf, he is probably worth more in the region of £1.5M.

I don't even want to think about him leaving, however. A player of his quality at our level will be very, very difficult to replace.

Damn straight. We should absolutely play hardball on this, as much as I hate the phrase.

He's f**king brilliant. Really, really good. And I don't just mean good for St Mirren, or good for the SPL. I genuinely think he has Premiership credentials. His vision, strength, control and passing make him ideal for the modern game and he could shine in a much better team than ours, when surrounded by better players. Let the bidding start at £2m.

Listen this kid is streets ahead of McCarthy and McArthur. Bidding has to start at min £3 million with add onns. He is an unbelievable talent with everything in his locker.

He isn't streets ahead of either of them.

He's a talent, no doubt. Potentially as good as McArthur, but I highly doubt McGinn will ever become a £10m signing like McCarthy.

I genuinely believe he has the POTENTIAL to eclipse said Accies cash machines... ... but he would truly benefit from at least another season or two at Saints learning his trade and becoming a big fish in a small pond to see how he responds to a different kind of pressure. All part of the learning curve.

I was raving about McLean when I saw him for the U20's v Arthurlie in a pre season friendly ages back... and have defended him at every step as muppets have torn into the lad and abused him... ... Pre-season against the Sons last year, McGinn gave me shivers down my spine at the sheer raw talent and confidence on display... ahead of McLean at that same stage...and ahead of every other player on the pitch including ex internationalists!!!

No mistake... in McGinn we have a real gem on our hands... potentially one of the best young midfield talents since that waste of space Lambert or that lazy git Stark before him!!! whistling.gif

I remember the lads asking me who I thought would be our best prospect coming through and I mentioned a wee boy called John McGinn.I have taken the greatest pleasure watching him grow and mature into the player he is now. He,s not the finished article and the lovely thing is he knows it.John is the most level headed (forgive the pun)young footballer I have ever came across. He is an absolute gem of a lad.I have no doubts in my mind he is going to go very far in the game and deserves everything that comes his way.Is he better than the Accies boys, well that remains to be seen.I certainly hope he does as well.

For those questioning a potential future £10m price tag, how much did Charlie Adam move for? If wee John could up his goal record slightly then in the future I see no reason why he couldn't move for a massive fee, sadly though I don't see us getting it.

To get money for him we either need him to sign a new contract or sell him this summer. I would hope he goes the "sign a new contract" route.
