Part of history he played in the infamous 1938 timeless Test which had to be abandoned as a draw after 12 days when the boat arrived to take the touring England side home. Like many of his generation his Test career was abbreviated by war.

RIP oldfella!

Can't say I've heard of him but sounds like he was a great old fella. Quite an innings.

I see the newspaper article named another South African who is now the oldest surviving test cricketer. I bet Lindsay Tuckett will be looking over his shoulder for the Grim Realer now.
