Singing Section W5 (Confirmed) + Update

Recommended Posts

Yep its another one of those threads again and I know everyone likes to shoot them down so i'd just like to put it out there that this a proposal for a flag waving drum beating section just a place for people who like to support the team vocally!

We have a great away singing support and everyone knows the atmosphere at SMP is terrible!

I understand some of the problems that we face with this:

  • Getting seats together
  • Being in a central location (preferably up the back)
  • Season ticket holders

I know there have been attempts for this before in W7 but its too out the road and doesn't encourage the normal fans to get involved!

Right bellow the TV cameras would be good in small groups in each row, but I know this isn't going to be possible!

or w5 from the back rows as close to w4 as possible!

Posted the same kind of thing in the St Mirren Supporters facebook group and was rather surprised by the result as thought it would of just been the younger fans that would be wanting to get involved but wasn't the case!

Feedback on the group has also been very good with over 40 likes on it and a lot of comments of fans who all want the same thing!

Stewart Gilmour on twitter said he would want the same as our away support at SMP and Tommy Craig in his post match interview has said when the fans are like that and get behind the team it makes a difference!

Going to try get something sorted for the next home as we have almost 2 weeks to get something done! Hopefully everyone wants to do something about the atmosphere and we can actually do something this time!

If anyone has any ideas, suggestions etc just post bellow and hopefully you will see us at the Inverness game

UPDATE :

St Mirren Singing Section update!

WHERE WILL WE BE:

Section W5 behind the tunnel area and to the left of this area if needed!

----

SEATS:

We have been allocated 198 seats for this game

48 Seats behind tunnel and the 150 left to the left of us if needed!

( 6 Seats directly behind tunnel will be taped off to ensure no one falls over)

-----

ALL SEASON TICKET HOLDERS (including west stand) :

"If any season ticket holder wants to sit in the singing section and they are a season ticket holder - we would issue them with a paper ticket for this area. Our suggestion would be that they contact the Ticket Office either by phone or e-mail, prior to next Saturday and we put aside a ticket for them, we then block their season ticket for that game ensuring that they don't give their season ticket to someone else. For the season ticket holders we will give their tickets to the steward who is manning turnstiles 15/16 for collection to save them queuing at the ticket office. "

This must be done before Saturday!

All Season Ticket holders please Email St Mirren as soon as possible with your season ticket information with a request for a change to Singing Section!

-----

NON SEASON TICKET HOLDERS

"Non season ticket holders can purchase a ticket for this section by contacting the Ticket Office either in advance (to get the best seats) or any tickets left will be sold from the West Stand Ticket Office on the day of the game if they ask for Singing Section tickets."

(Remember to say for Singing Section so you have a ticket for here and not in anyones seat... Just eliminates any problems)

Will be making more info-graphics so you can all share with your friends!

-----

I will be in the section from about half 2 and encourage everyone to come a bit earlier if they can get to know everyone!

-----

Yes but what do you want "signed"

Personally I thought those djemba djemba bunnets were magnificent and those saints fans that wore them were sharp dressed men. laugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.png

Best idea is to get pished before the game, that's the reason the away crowd is so vocal.

Hits the nail on the head. This is why our Friday night away support is always good!

A singing section is a great idea, you can see the lift it gives the players. A vocal support, coupled with good performances would make SMP a place teams wont want to come to.

make M1 a designated standing and singing section, it's the only block with no current season tickets, its next to the away support, and being at the end of the stand wouldn't obstruct others view in the 'sitting' areas eg M2, also, reduce entry fee for this area by a couple of quid

continuious singing in any particular area would automatically encourage others to. . . MAKE SOME NOISE !

Just an update to let everyone see what we have been up to, We have came to the conclusion that this highlighted area in the picture bellow will be the best place to sit! It is close to the centre of the park so will be able to encourage others to sing! It has 48 seats in it ( would be brilliant if we filled that for the first game) and due to segregation when the likes of Celtic come to town there are no season ticket holders here ( We know this will be a problem at a later date but can look for a solution if this singing section is a success)

We created a group last night and it has an amazing 83 members already! once everyone on this group started talking it became clear that there are people who have season tickets in other stands who would like to get involved so we are going to have a talk with the club to see if it would be possible to switch season ticket holders ( who want to join in) for one game and see how it goes!

There has been amazing enthusiasm behind this ( Even Stewart Gilmour messaged me on Twitter to say its a brilliant idea) and I'm shocked from the St Mirren fans as its almost always doom and gloom as one fan posted in the group "Never thought id be this buzzing for Caley at home... COYS"

Anyone wanting to get involved etc can join our group here > https://www.facebook.com/groups/748036301936484 or keep your eye pealed for information on this!
