Well , that's the first half of the season gone.

Anything he can give will be a bonus and he shouldn't be relied upon to be a 'saviour', we really need to get something out the guys in the squad now.

First half of the season? We've played 11 games and there's 27 to go! We're less than a third of the way through the season

Hopefully he's back and fully fit for the busy Christmas fixture schedule. We will know then if we need to get a new striker in January, or not.

I think what he's saying is, by the time Thommo's back playing half the season's could be gone.

I'm relating to when he might be back , if he misses another 6/8 games ? Then yes that'll be about half the season.

He did flag to the end of last season so hopefully he will come back fit and fresh (I'm trying to find any positives I can now!)

Due to Bahoken and Magennis being so... Pish... We flogged Thommo last season.

He was playing 90 minutes virtually every week, and you just can't do that with a guy his age.

We are paying the price now.

Would agree with that. We over used and relied on Thompson too much last season. We were very lucky he managed to stay injury free for so long. Hopefully he can bounce straight back to his usual self but I think it will take a bit of time before the Thommo we know and love will be 100% fit.

Nope, we're paying the price now because a decision was made to start him against lower league opposition when he wasn't anywhere near fit enough. The manager admitted so after the game.

And due to the lack of quality added to our attack line this summer we are paying the price for not having him available to flog now.

Lessons not learned by our new manager.

Yeah and Thompson was involved in that decision too, he said he was fit enough to start.

The reason he clearly wasn't fit enough was due to how much he played last season.

How do you know that he wasn't fit because of how much he played last season? He had 6 weeks break before pre-season. The injury occurred during pre-season training, did it not?

Coming back into a frantic schedule - 8 league games between Dec 27 and Jan 31.

No way should he be expected to play in all those games.

TC and the rest will have to be cautious and clever with their choices and we still need the rest of the players to step up to the plate.

Thompson underwent a knee operation prior to the Hearts game at the end of last season prior to us attaining safety from relegation he'd played in just about every minute of every game, it's not too far fetched to assume this contributed in some way to the pre-season injury which made the decision to rush him back in August almost criminal, in terms of football management.

What I find enjoyable is watching TC defending his namesake from culpability in the matter - he was the Assistant Manager last season and as for Thompson agreeing he was fit enough to play in August what would you really expect him (a fan as well as a player) to say when pressed on the matter?

Sorry gaffer, I'm not fit enough to play yet.

Incorrect, Thommo himself said he needed to test himself in a match game to see whether he was okay, it had to be done.
