This is it in a nutshell. Moderation has been very loose to say the least. I tend to only step in when there's porn spam, or abusive posts. Apart from that I let the kids battle it out. It's a thankless task (not that I'm looking for any), and on the very few occasions we step in and do something we get it tight. Div does a great job and the approach to let it pretty much moderate itself is why it's busy in comparison with other forums. Every now and then it needs a major clean up and it tends to work well. I wasn't a great fan of the sin bin, but it seems the majority liked it and maybe it's for the greater good. Maybe once our team returns to winning ways everything will calm down and the forum will return to normality and be a pleasant place to spend an hour or two once again. COYS

Time is important for any manager, especially one taking over a club that has been plummeting in recent years, changing managers every few months. Hopefully there are more sensible people on the board than on the forum...

    Challenge Cup

Up until East Fife last weekend that was the coldest I'd ever been at a match. The final against Accies at Airdrie was brilliant though. I bet, for all the people who are moaning about this tournament and who aren't going on Sunday, saying it doesn't matter, they'll all be queuing up to go to the final if we get there. I'm looking forward to Sunday, Emma's first ever match

Was the sin bin a success

The sin bin was a fantastic addition to this fine little forum of ours. A very welcome one that I sincerely hope will be utilised when the need most likely arises again. The following three points will illustrate my reasoning behind my assertions. 1) The sin bin not only gave me a bit of piece from StuDick but I dare hope that we may have seen the last of the pesky one. 2) Skidmark Faraway got his botty skelped and although still a bit skidmarky his behaviour seems to have improved (if only slightly) and 3) Shull's unfortunate online meltdown seems to have halted. The sin bin was a success, I shall toast the magnificence of the sin bin's impact over my next drink which I shall have now......in ten minutes I will be needing a pish!

    Season 17/18 Replica Kits

It apparently wasn't a lesser deal for the club, the JD deal, as opposed to what was on offer from rivals. We, as fans, simply have to accept this as being fact. However, personally, I wonder that if JD were so stonkIngly good over everyone else, why were tons of other Scottish clubs not falling over themselves to ditch their Puma, Nike and Adidas deals to grab a slice of the JD action. Anyway... I still believe that despite the boon of bespoke design, it was a poor deal for St Mirren fans. Having to go to three JD stores, nothing available on matchdays when our core support was gathered in one place, poor stock levels, poor launch dates, dreadful availability at Christmas, quality control issues, and a piss-poor St Mirren presence, certainly in Braehead and Silverburn - where Saints tops were shoved behind the ubiquitous Barcelona, Man Utd and 'Old Firm' tops. My belief is that a want-away BoD, with a shambolic merchandising situation after AWP, saw the opportunity to have zero responsibility, allowed JD to take care of the whole shooting match, and washed their hands of another troublesome issue. The fact it was a poor deal for fans is something I don't think would have saw them lose any sleep.

If the plan was to get rid of Stu Dick then it was a success. Me personally, I'd rather ignore people who irritate me than hound them out. Some people find this difficult and only fuel the fire, this is as big a problem as the person who is lighting the match.

Like wise. I'll be hitting Paisley around 12.30pm in time for my first refreshment. Hope to have a memorable day. It would be fantastic to have a Plan A that worked. Going down to the third tier would be bad but no matter how professional and well run they are getting gubbed by a Welsh league team would put a bit of a dampener on the old after match celebrations. JR in you we trust. Don't let us down or take us down for that matter. COYS

    Buses For Ayr

I would agree that the club should look into laying on some buses, the trains are stopping at Kilwinning and being replaced by buses to Ayr that day,it will possibly put people off going and this game is equally if not more important than the Dundee cup game, which saw the club giving financial support to the travel clubs who in turn gave discounted travel to the fans who filled the buses. I would suggest the best way to go about it would be the club asking the travel clubs to lay on an extra bus each and to charge fans the same price as the main bus, with a guarantee that if the cost of the bus is not met by the fares paid, then the club would make up the shortfall, if there is any. This would ensure the travel clubs don't lose customers to any buses run directly by the club and don't lose out financially if the buses are not filled. I have also made this suggestion to the SMiSA committee.

I'm not a regular poster but I regularly follow most of the threads.. It's been a success for me. It's cut down on what is discussion for some, banter to others, bullying to a few and mindless drivel to many. We are all Saints fans (I think), we all want the club to do well and have different views on how that's going to be achieved. Some felt that they had been blessed by such an insight to what was wrong that everyone else was either too dumb or stubborn to see it.. Anyway less threats veiled or otherwise, fewer maniacal ramblings and not so many pointless threads has made the forum a better experience.. But that's just me, we're all different, and just because I don't like some content shouldn't mean we don't allow it... So let bygones be bygones and let the prodigal children return, slaughter the fattened calfs and brace ourselves for what we are about to receive...

Sorry for picking on you sergie lots of people have said this but whilst its true, when I started supporting ST Mirren we were in the old Second Division and that that was the bottom league. We couldn't go any further down,so Modern League one won't be the worst we've ever been so whilst it will be unpleasant to get relegated we still have a bit to go before we are Rock Bottom. Managers have to learn their trade somewhere and whilst many believe JR is out his depth in the Championship, He has had some experience in League one and by all accounts was doing well enough to attract our attention. Whilst many claim the teams performances have improved under his leadership everyone agrees his teams have not yet learned how to secure league points. We have gone through lots of players during his reign and he still has to find a winning formula. Many of his new signings are loans and probably won't be available next season. In our financial state it makes sense to keep him to the end of the season. If we stay up. Hopefully he will have learned and can take the team forward. If we go down hopefully he can call on his previous experience, gain some confidence from being back at a level he can cope with and then progress to a higher level thus rewarding our loyalty after keeping him in post. If he shows no sign of improvement in league one. Then we get shot of him but I don't think we have any option other than to trust him meantime. We can't afford to sack managers every five or six months. Give the JR a chance to learn his profession. That's my opinion

Just my personal opinion... would it not be more appropriate, meaningful and relevant to address this request to the club? smisa members subscriptions are ringfenced to pay off a substantial debt to the selling consortium, and to buy the majority shareholding in the club.

Agree the first part of this post. JR's inexperience has been a huge issue. When Rae was sacked we had to shitfest our way to survival this season and then move on to prettier things next year. An experienced head would have done that, JR has tried to be the nice guy and play the right way or something. This naivety has cost us dearly. I bet if he gets another job with a team in a similar position to ours he will make the team hard to beat and win ugly before anything else. Learn from experience and that, good for him. The bad news for us is that this great football club will almost certainly be relegated to the third tier for the first time in our 140 year history because we had an apprentice at the controls making mistakes. Still though, least JR will have learned from it. Awareness of chopping and changing managers hasn't worked? Didn't stop them bagging Rae after 6 league games this season [emoji28] Thus becoming the first full time team in Britain to sack their manager this season. Holding up the new board as some bastion of managerial stability? Spare me. My outlook is realistic. Our current position is 11 points from safety in the championship with 13 games to go. Perilous doesn't quite cover it.

(Apologies for post repetition, thought it appropriate to respond directly to the OP) The club board have discussed this and having only recently covered the buses cost to Dundee for the cup game feel that it makes more sense now to incentivise supporters to come along to home games. So we should see something soon on that front. like they say if you don't ask, you don't get. Hopefully whatever is planned for a home game brings more buddies through the gate to roar on the saints.

Different board with another mindset and potentially an awareness of that years of chopping and changing managers hasn't worked. You used to have a positive outlook and an open mind. It is indeed a funny old game.

I agree in essence with your point but hopefully that is part of JR's plan. Due to his inexperience he possibly believed playing nice football would do that. It hasn't and hopefully he is not going to do a Mark Warburton who had no strategy other than plan A and if that doesn't work do plan A better. JR better learn to fit more than one string to his bow if he is going to be a success. Time will tell but the reality is we can't afford to do anything else but give him time. If he doesn't cut the mustard after a reasonable settling in period then I hope the board have a Plan B. Until then JR needs to think hard about his approach, learn, adapt and stop getting beat or Plan B awaits him. Up till then we support him and cut him some slack. COYS

Your not misunderstood, your wrong. There are 3 tiers of minimum wage depending on age. It is also law and not a so called rule. What's one way about it? By law there is a minimum per hour to be paid for an employees services. Doesnt matter wether people work for a small company or a big company they should be paid minimum wage at least. The original point I made was that there are hospitality companies paying less than minimum wage all over the place.

I honestly don't think we are seen as the sacking club of Scottish football, I think we simply made a few really bad appointments in a row and haven't recovered from them. As a few people have said the rot didn't start with not renewing Danny's contract, it started with appointing Tommy Craig. Everything we have done since has been in an attempt to recover. Murray was a reasonably popular choice but ultimately failed and Rae was no ones choice but did well until he lost the manual on 'how to build a squad' during the summer. I don't think either would have got through the doors though if Craig hadn't relegated us. Tommy Craig was Davie Hay.the sequel.

I think the sin bin is/was a divisive, point and stare exercise, much like kids would do in a playground surrounding one kid and goading him into doing something. If someone has broken the forum rules, then its up to mods to act. What i did notice is many others who have regularly been abusive remaining scot free, which does make it all look like one rule for some, one for me mates.

    Season 17/18 Replica Kits

I think, as Dave has alluded to, that Joma can do some element of besoke design for the Professional Clubs. It doesn't need to be totally out the catalogue. The designs we've had from JD have, apart from the relegation season abominations, been pretty decent IMO. The strip that poz designed that we won the cup in was brilliant. It was the quality of the kits, the shambolic release dates (ironically the only release they got bang on was the worst strip we've ever had) and the deal breaker of not being able to buy the kits in our own shop that really pissed everyone off. All TTL need to do is do a proper formal launch of the new kit, at the last home game of the previous season, make it an event, take over the Dome or whatever, get a band in, get some ex-players, get some food and drink stuff set up, something for the kids, and sell the kits there and then. They'd completely clean up and undo much of the pain of the last 3 years with JD. This ain't rocket science. We sometimes make it so hard for fans to spend money it's ridiculous!
