I think this is a tad harsh on the young lad but the goals conceded on Saturday were very poor. He could be blamed in part of all 3 goals but our defence has looked all over the place at times this season but I don't think Kelly has played at left back that often this season, probably only over a handful of times so during the course of a full season I think the problems lie a lot deeper than young Sean and have been visible at our club for a few years now.

Great post. I think after the weekends performance McLean should be one of the first to be offered , to let his talent possibly go on a free in the summer would be madness.

I am behind them both as we have now two good left backs . But I don't see your point about it being devoid of confidence as it was down to that 11s making. If anything Kelly's circumstances along with Mair & McGregor but more so Dilo were a lot tougher as they were expected to come in and pick up the pieces as 2 teenagers against an Aberdeen team flying at the time. If anything it was unfair to expect youngsters to deal with that much pressure on their debuts but thankfully they thrived. When you look on our bench and we have the calibre of Grainger and Harkins, 2 recognised SPL players , it all looks well for the future on all fronts at this moment.

Well is he slow ? Had enough pace and strength to have the better of Johnny Hayes just about every time on his full debut. One of the best wingers in the league.

Must admit I was one who wanted him to go , but I can't help but feel stupid now he has turned it around , the past 3 weeks have been as enjoyable as I can remember in the league to get that winning feeling back again. If we can make it 3 wins in a row I might start to believe in the St Johnstone and Ross County pish he came out with in every interview.

I must also add I still think Grainger has been a good player in previous clubs but of he's not shown it at St Mirren so we can't complain when he doesn't play, that's my point.

Why is experience that big deal ? That experience didn't help us much when we were losing every week. Kelly is starting out , just like Grainger and every other player does, the only way people get experience is by playing. Ask Fergie what he thought when told "you don't win anything with kids". I take it he shouldn't have played Beckham, Giggs, Scholes & Neville cause the other players had more experience ? Hahahaha

You clearly weren't at the games against Aberdeen & Hearts , especially at Tynecastle . The boy was quality. What attributes have you seen from Grainger this season that make him stand out over Kelly ?
