Anyone with amusing anecdotes about the store like having shoplifted, vomited or caught their father in the lingerie section - always an embarrassing situation?

I know I was lifted over the turnstiles for the famous Hugh Gilshan game in Nov 69 but don't remember much about it.
I started going with mates during the 76/77 season and have supported the team in my own special way ever since. I have seen 21 managers depart (not counting caretakers) and hope to see a good few more run out of town with a baying mob behind them.

all going well up to the last line, if you believe that shit then you will truly believe anything.  If you are down and out in this country at this time then you are more screwed than anyone has been since the depression.
Any number of people can tell you their life stories and the secrets of their "success".  At some point, I am almost certain, somebody did you a kindness that benefitted you greatly, on other occasions, you were in the right place at the right time.  Same as me, same as many other people.  Opportunity does not knock on every door.  At some point we need to gather up the stragglers and give them what they need, even if they don't work as hard as some. Failure to do that means we consign future generations of people at the bottom end to scrabbling round for their share of diminishing opportunities.
What i know from my own experience is that nobody does it all on their own, no matter how hard they work and what we have that we might consider "wealth" is transitory and only really represents the extra we have above and beyond what we need.  When you talk about opportunity then maybe you should think of the people who really have no opportunities and no endless amount of hard work, on its own, will deliver "wealth".  It's also a fallacy to say that everyone can be "wealthy".  The more you have the less there is for someone else.

Would it be too corny to suggest that "two too" would also be a delightfully onomatopoeic in this instance?

    1. No I'd prefer it if everyone was paid a fair wage, and in the case of Sarwar's company not an illegal & unfair one.
    2. It's a fair POV but you can't hold it and say you believe in levelling up society - which is the charge levelled against Sarwar, who is the leader of a political party that is, the last time I looked, notionally Socialist.

    Where did I say that?

Socialism, which this pair is supposed to represent, isn't hard or complicated (to me anyway), it's the battle to attain four things:

Equal access to education for all (get rid of private schools)
Equal access to healthcare for all
A roof over everyone's head (that wants one)
    No-one going hungry

I'm not blaming him for using private schools, I get it, I understand it, I might have done it myself for my son if I could've. It's the hypocrisy of doing that and leading Labour I don't have any time for.

Seriously, though, this is about Starmer and Sarwar, heads of the party supposedly representing "the common people". How about addressing that instead.

    Vote for a progressive party.
I'll vote SNP (constituency) & Green (List) next week - I'd vote Green at Constituency level too if they had a chance of winning.
You worry enough to comment about it and complain about policies that might cost you money but would arguably be a benefit to society as a whole like free broadband.

What's wrong with free bikes for poor kids?
A huge step forward in social fairness and a great incentive towards living a healthy life-keeping some cars from doing the meaningless school run to boot.
    It's a great idea.
To argue against free access to the internet, greatest benefit  of which will be to connect poorer families up to a wealth of information and support, would be the same as arguing against free books for schoolchildren and free libraries when they were the main access route to life-changing information and education.
The modern world is moving fast and it is right that we take steps to make sure that poorer kids don't get left behind.

"Sir" Keir Starmer to the likes of us, never forget the "Sir" part. "Sir" anything in charge of the Labour Party, think about that for a minute. The original Labour Party Keir will be spinning in his grave.

Sarwar in Scotland, the millionaire whose family don't pay their workers minimum wage. Wonder if they think he's "bright and personable"? Never mind, I'm sure he has the founding values of Labour at his core and sending his children to private school is a reflection of those values.

Is it any wonder we refer to Labour as Red Tories these days?

Yeah that's all a bit disappointing, I blame it mostly on the way Sturgeon mishandled the the Salmond affair - I'm still confident at worst we'll be Separate by 28.
As long as Tory hegemony at Westminster continues it's just a matter of time - even though people get more conservative as they get older I still reckon demographics are on our side too. Tactically I expect a pro-Independence majority at Holyrood next week to call for a second referendum within the timescale of the next Scottish Parliament followed by Johnson blocking all moves towards IndyRef2 which will be counterproductive. If Johnson had the balls for it I reckon his best move would be to agree to an early second referendum which really would derail any further moves for independence for 20 years if NO won.
The most damaging outcome for independence would be Alba getting 5-10 seats and the toxicity surrounding Alex Salmond leading to a loss of focus, which is a pity because a left-wing pro-Independence party standing on the lists only is a good idea.
Slavering - at least I'm not frightened about the future.
