  1. One of the attractions of the Family stand is it's cheaper. Partly because it doesn't include Old firm games and many of the kids tickets are free. SMISA fund a large proportion of them too. As has been demonstrated at less attractive and some important cup games when fans are asked to buy they don't. The family stand is usually empty if the Team are not performing. The problem is probably that Football in General is too expensive for families. If the team are on a roll, irregular fans attend. If they are mediocre only the diehards do. It's the same for every team. Stopping the Old Firm coming to town will, IMO, not change that. Value for money might.
  2. We are far from being fan owned and nothing SMISA has said so far indicates we ever shall be, There are no contingency plans for what happens after btb is complete and there will be no SMISA contributions to fund the club either. Every penny raised goes to buying shares or community projects which usually don't provide any capital or financial gain for the club. SMISA are not the messiah. In their present form they are far from it. If some sort of after take over plan is not made we may well be selling all three stands to the O/F or anyone who wants them for that matter because cash will be a big issue then.
  3. I'm fairly sceptical but I would guess there would be few "entirely St Mirren supporting youth groups." I would hazard a guess that most of the youth groups would be mainly composed of Rangers and Celtic fans. Not sure how gifting them tickets helps anyone. When St Mirren do well we attract fans and can fill stands. When we don't we have a mediocre crowd. You only have to look at the family stand during less attractive cup games. If People have to pay they chose to go to the other stands. The family stand is empty when there are no freebies. To get a decent team on the park we need cash but that's the whole argument.
  4. Great day out yesterday. Good to see all the buds out in force now the league season has started. Lots of well kent faces in various states of intoxication and the mood amongst the fans was very upbeat. Captain fantastic, the new Mrs McGinn and their maw also socialising with the fans in the pub pre-match. All good Fun. The game was very enjoyable too. We played much better than our league cup performances suggested, and the team was right up for it from the start. McLoughlin looked solid at the back but as a few other pointed out, he needs to work on his distribution. McKenzie teamed up well and I thought Cammy McPherson and McGinn were outstanding at the back. Hladky as ever was in command of his area. Durmis looked a real threat and a few Hibs fans wondered why we took him off when he looked like our biggest threat. Once he’s properly match fit, He will be a prospect. Magennis, Andreu and Flynn looked good and Foley was very much a forward player. He was up front and eager to get in about it. Wee Danny struggled a little and looked like a guy who needs a bit of confidence. Hopefully he scores soon. Okiba was putting himself about and could have made a dream debut but it wasn’t to be. Big Okiba was in the right place at the right time. . We just need him to slot some away. Hopefully we can sort out our strike force and get a few goals on the scoresheet. Breadner could be a player and Djorkaef put himself about too. All in all, a far better performance. If they put that much effort in every week the points will come and it could be a very enjoyable season.
  5. Compared to a week ago. we now have something to be excited about. Buddievision interview confirming OKiba also in squad for tomorrow. He says he likes to play with a smile on his face so go easy on the smirking allegations. Looking forward to tomorrow now. See you all there.
  6. If you believe everything you read on FB or twitter we have. Some people posting him and Foley being announced tomorrow with 2 more to Follow Probably Gus spreading FAKE NEWS. 🤥
  7. Could start by taking internet access from them so if they want information about a game and want to talk about it, they sort of have to go to the match. I'd reduce TV influence, so all matches were played at least when advertised and not changed at the whim of a TV Schedule. That way those who wanted to attend could make arrangements in advance. 3pm on Saturday would be good. Failing that. I think we're doomed.
  8. I see part of the proposal is paying for imported Fairtrade footballs so workers in India and Pakistan get their just rewards. Is that not an outrage when there are an abundance of bawbags in Paisley ⚽
  9. Hopefully I'm on form next Sunday. Then again Saints are playing next weekend.🤔
  10. Yes poor St Johnstone were bundled out the cup too. They were however able to make five changes to their team. A luxury we don't have. I heard Chick Young saying that every team who qualifies for the next Round gets £40,000 each. So that's what looked like an easy 40k, spunked too. Still roll on Monday I hear from social media talk that we have already signed Sam Foley and Kyle McAllistair with at least 2 more being announced before the Hibs game. Why has the director of Football failed? Spunking 40k is one reason but maybe He'll come good by Saturday. We live in hope.
  11. As a SMISA member I have been given no indication that there is any further requirement for my cash after the buy out. On that basis I don't think they envisage any role for the ordinary SMISA benefactor after this date. They will just be 'Joe Soap' St Mirren fans like everyone else. Who will SMISA be, after the buy out??? I don't think there is any suggestion that any of the ordinary SMISA contributors will get any say in anything. A Board will still run the Club. Not sure who will elect them if no one is contributing to the funds or will we all just be honorary life members of SMISA. I don't think so. Then again I couldn't see Club being run by committee, I Don't think that would work. I suspect the final result will definitely involve smoke and mirrors.
  12. I think that's a good question. I can't speak for other SMISA members but I imagine most saw SMISA as a last chance saloon and were happy to commit some funds to stop the club disappearing into oblivion. The burden of running the club wasn't something they signed up for. As illustrated many aren't interested in or able to turn up for meetings. Many of them will have no real interest in "The community" vision of SMISA and were only interested in saving the Club. Your average SMISA member has no idea what the plan is when the buy out is complete. At present your average SMISA member will have nothing to show for their donations, not investments and SMISA will have no more SMISA funds as soon as the buy out is complete as Members have not yet been asked to contribute beyond that date. With no subscriptions to pay, are they still members? Who will elect the board? Who will be in office? Let's take a wild guess here and predict GLS will still be at the wheel.
  13. No problem with your scepticism. As I said the sources weren't GLS fans but they did appear credible. They stated it wasn't the first gentleman's agreement GLS had reneged on. Funnily enough I was at a Coleraine open day when I heard that one. As Far as Eddie Wolecki Black is concerned A Rangers supporter who purported to be Neil Lennon's best mate told me that in a pub in Coatbridge Recently. He's maybe not as ITK but you hear what you hear when you're on the beer.
  14. In the course of our St Mirren related travels we meet all sorts of footballing people and pick up on various rumours surrounding St Mirren. One such rumour which came our way that any money saved from last year’s managerial expenses/team running budget would be added to this year’s transfer budget The main reason Kearney left was he had been told he couldn’t utilise the savings he had made last season and the original transfer budget had been reduced too. The commuting was made into an issue to muddy the waters when OK and GLS fell out over the transfer budget. That came from a couple of sources, but I don’t think they were big fans of GLS. IF, and I say IF, there is any truth in this speculation. It may be the case we will struggle to attract any decent players during the window. As an aside, I also heard that if JG hadn’t accepted the Job Eddie Wolecki Black was to be our next target. The things you hear when you’re on the beer.
  15. I have said many things my 'friend.' And I stand by them all. See you at Easter Road. PS last night's performance wasn't too good either. I mean the team (including the manager) in case there is any doubt. There may be trouble ahead.
  16. Looks like that discussion is over then. Betfred Cup hasn't gone too good. In fact, It might be fair to say the Club have made a rip roaring arse of it.
  17. Oaky happy to report Goody was in Position for the first half. Second half as reported. The whole backroom took a while to get into position but maybe the half time team talk dictated that. Not that it made much difference, if it did. Another observation was about 10 mins after the start our sports Psyhiologist/fitness assessor/sport scientist sauntered out and wandered round the park on his way to the dug out carrying a few bottles of water. He was deep in thought eyes focused in front. Not on the park. Possibly watching where he was going. In his buddievision interview from Spain he told us his role was to observe, monitor and advise players to help improve their fitness, performance, attitude and devise methods to keep them fit. Maybe on Match days. he's just the water boy. He's allowed time off from watching the players and allowed to go for a walk. . I thought we actually looked like we might win the game in the first 10 minutes. Albion Rovers were definitely on the back foot and provided no goal threat. We weren't exactly on fire but we did look like we could contain them easily. Unfortunately the game lasted more than 10 minutes. Some of the best chances of the game fell to them and their keeper, Who looked about 17 years old, held our strike force at Bay. I thought McAllistair was up for it and Breadner tried very hard. We sort of woke up in the last 10 mins and upped the work rate but it was too little to late and credit to Albion Rovers they might have nicked it in the last 10 as well. They broke out and held up the ball but got a shot or two in as well. The new penalty rule is a farce. Say no More. Based on preseason and Betfred performances I think we have a bit more agony in store, Buds. See you at Easter Road.
  18. Your Call mate. I need to get ready for the match. Got a bit of travelling to do to get there. Leaving soon. I'll deal with your personal attacks tomorrow. COYS SMTID
  19. Hopefully we can put in a decent performance tonight. With feck all happening off the park to boost our morale, I hope the boys can get us all cheering tonight. See you all there folks.
  20. Come on. At least four other posters on here confirm the start of the match was delayed because Goody wasn't ready. Are they all liars too. Tell me again. What exactly did you see???????????
  21. Now you Loath me. FFS I hope you don't mean Loathe. That's definitely not nice.
  22. He would have been at work since arriving at our training complex on Saturday prior to travelling to EK, so he wasn't late for work. Come on, who's being a pedant now. Ok, lets forget the game was held up because Goody wasn't ready. It good to see everyone defending him. Its great we're all finally uniting behind a manager. Good job Lads. Long live Goody! On a side note, I see I got more likes for calling Faraway, FannyPlay than I did for Criticising Jim. Looks like we're on our way. Feck Knows where though. See you tonight
  23. Jaybee with all due respect. You weren't there. I wasn't the only one to notice it. The referee did too. The players also did, as they had to wait to start the game because Goody was late for work. Get My Point?????????
  24. You got the Point??????? You said. Maybe I am the only Saints fan it Bothered. Maybe I just have higher standards. That's irrelevant. I was Mixing with East Kilbride fans after the Game. They brought it up. They revelled in their victory and their mood was "Get it right up you Goodwin. Because we're a diddy team you don't need to prepare. Ha! Ha!" Jaybee. I don't manage St Mirren but If I did I would be excessively concerned with minor details. I'd be a Pedant as you say. Which is my Point. Just in case you don't really get it
  25. Only Coffee. I'm Working this Morning. Heading off shortly. Hope to finish early enough to get over to Coatbridge for a few pre-match Shandies though. Its either that of watch them sober. That would be even more tortuous than this forum.
