  1. Sounds great thank you. I'm very jealous of teams who've played like that against us and I really hope we get someone with that type of philosophy. I've seen a few comments who believe what they hear on Talksport by muppets like Chris Sutton and we're not the set of fans that we're being branded as in the media who hounded out Mick McCarthy. He constantly tried to bait the fans and said things like 'the more you sing his name, the less chance I'll bring him on'. Happened on several occasions with our creative players who he'd leave on the bench for more defensive options and his pals. We scored in the last minute at Norwich and instead of celebrating with the staff and players, he ran towards our away end shouting 'F**k off'. It's just unfair how we've been made out by the media. We've had 15 managers since 1936 and are notoriously patient with managers! If Jack Ross came, he'd be given tonnes of time and patience to build something. All we ask for is to be entertained and see a few youth players be developed from our promising academy along the way. If we're not doing so well but we can see a long term strategy being attempted then we'd be happy. With McCarthy it was dire hoofball football, playing for a 0-0 draw every week and he didn't develop a single player to be a first team regular from our academy in his 6 years at the club. We just want someone with a bit of ambition who plays to win the game!
  2. Well the first sentence of that is exactly what we've endured for the past 6 years with Mick McCarthy! Haha Obviously you romped the league for a reason. I was just wondering what kind of manager he is. Does he play good passing football or tough tackling / hard working safety first (as McCarthy did). Have you played several formations this season or has he mainly stuck to one? Just interested in him as I don't know much about him. From all of your comments he sounds exactly the type we're crying out for.
  3. Spot on. We are by no means 'skint' as all the money is owed to Marcus Evans. We pay reasonably high wages and paid good fees for loan players and the odd transfer. Our youth squad is brimming with talent and we have a hat full of players coming back from injury ready for next season. Even the most die hard St Mirren fans must admit that we are a huge opportunity for Jack Ross. If it fails with us then I'm sure he'd be welcome back with open arms at St Mirren so it's not a huge gamble for him. If he has a bad season in Scotland next year then his stock will fall drastically and wouldn't get approached by good English clubs afterwards so would have to take his opportunity now. If I was a St Mirren fan then the one positive I have seen when looking on his Wikipedia page is that when he was at Hartlepool (half the distance from St Mirren to Ipswich) he kicked up a stink about leaving as he was too home sick. So a lot would depend on whether he and his family would want to move so far from home I would imagine. Besides, I still think Paul Hurst is our number 1 target, but he may not leave Shrewsbury if he gets them promoted and we'd need back up options in case we don't get our man. I would be very surprised if we don't approach Hurst after the playoffs regardless of what league they are in. I'm curious to know what style St Mirren play and whether he's developed young players up there as that's really key to whoever we bring in.
  4. Hi, I'm also an Ipswich fan. I would like to thank you for the kind comments about our club. Most fans in England see us as being 'tinpot' because we're a traditional family club who don't throw money at trying to win the league like most other teams. From your comments it seems like Jack Ross is very highly thought of up in Scotland and is exactly the type of manager us ITFC fans want to see. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on his style of football / approach to games? Does he play defensive or attacking football? Does he play to win the game or not to lose? Whether he joins us or not I wish you all the best back in the SPL next season. Cheers,
