  1. In the pub this afternoon I heard this belter of a story about a horses bet from last Saturday by one of the pub regulars in the next-door Ladbrokes. He placed a £10 treble on 3 short(ish) priced favourites. The races were Ayr 2.59, Newmarket 3.17 and Ascot 4.20. He didn't name the horses on his betting slip, just the numbers. His first 2 picks won at 7-4 and 9-4. At this point he discovered that he had mistakenly written Ascot 3.40 (horse no 8) instead of 4.20. Remarkably the 3.40 was won by no 8 at 80-1. Even more remarkably the horse's odds at the time he placed his bet had been 125-1, which Ladbrokes honoured. By fluke he won £11,261.
  2. The OP presumably didn't see the existing thread. No need for sarcasm or ridicule. It would appear that every other B&W Army poster was able to contain themselves. Sadly not you. As usual.
  3. Why the sarcasm ? Apparently Jimmy H is correct per the BBC Sport website.
  4. So does that make 5% p.a. a great investment when inflation is at 10% ? There are no cash investments currently available that won't lose the investor money (ie buying power) over the term of the investment.
  5. Aye, and inflation sitting at 10%. Bloody brilliant for savers. Fill yer boots !
  6. Regardless of where the blame lies for the screaming rises in mortgage rates I agree with FS that there should be no government intervention to help out those borrowers that now find themselves struggling financially. Nobody forced them into the level of debt they have, it was entirely their choice. And how many of those pleading for government help are also driving around in fancy BMWs, Audis, Mercedes etc that they can't actually afford, taken out on lease deals ? Why should the British public be responsible for coughing up more tax revenue for their benefit ? What about the millions of UK taxpayers who can't afford to climb onto the property ladder - how would they feel about paying someone else's mortgage for them ?
  7. Never mind Faraway, lot's of idiot's like your'self are useles's and clueles's with the proper u'se of apostrophe's. No need to be upset about it.
  8. Surprising ..... you have mates. Unsurprising ..... you haven't a Scooby about using apostrophes.
  9. I think we have only about 6500 seats in the 3 "Home" stands, so having almost half of them sold already is terrific. Can you feel that there's something exciting building in Paisley this season ?
  10. Nicola arrested. On a Sunday, too !!
  11. In recent seasons several of our more successful signings have come from either Ireland or Australasia rather than through pickpocketing other Scottish clubs. How many if us had previously heard of Keanu Baccus or Ryan Strain or Alex Grieve or Jamie McGrath before our scouts brought them to us ? That suggests to me that throwing about names of free transfers from other Premiership clubs will only limit our horizons. Continuing to source ambitious young 'unknown' players from untapped leagues who hope to use St Mirren as an opportunity to magnify their profiles to a wider market is a win-win for the player and for us.
  12. No thanks. I don't rate any of them. I can't believe Kane is still only 28 since he seems to have been around for donkey's years, yet in his most prolific season as a striker he managed a whopping 5 goals. And Iacovitti is a talentless thug IMO.
  13. The most depressing aspect as far as I'm concerned is that there appears to be precious little exciting young talent bursting through from our Youth Academy. If Offord and Jamieson are our best prospects coming through from the Academy to the First Team Squad then it's no wonder our scouts are off trawling through various diddy leagues around the world. I'd love these two youngsters to prove me wrong but, from what they've shown when given their (admittedly few) opportunities so far, there's a helluva lot of improvement required before we're going to see a positive end result. Happy to be proved wrong though.
  14. Presumably you'll be thrilled at us getting a million quid to have offloaded two players that you always forecast will lose every game they play in a St Mirren shirt.
  15. How do we prevent any OF fans attending then ? Racists / Sectarians, one and all.
  16. Another spot-on prediction from "The King" !!
  17. I'm disappointed that we have let Joe go. Even if he wasn't a guaranteed first choice he was still a big asset as a backup starter for defensive injuries, or as a last 25 minutes sub. We cod throw him up front if we needed a late goal, or tactically for his long throw-ins. Let's hope he doesn't come back to haunt us in the Premiership.
  18. I can't think of anything Gordon Scott has directed. Ridley Scott, yes. Tony Scott, yes.
  19. Firstly, I'm not wee. And apologies for calling you "ignorant". I actually meant "attention seeking". You won't be receiving anymore attention from me you moron. On "Ignore".
  20. The SMiSA stadium is in Paisley, not far from Glasgow, Scotland. Have you ever been there when a St Mirren fixture has taken place. If you ever do come along you might actually realise what Keanu Baccus does for us. He is usually excellent. Or are you just an ignorant twat ?
  21. Bet365's nightmare result today ......... Southampton 4 Liverpool 4 At Southampton 0 Liverpool 2, they pay out on an away win. At Southampton 4 Liverpool 2, they pay out on a home win. Final score 4-4, they pay out on a draw. Everyone's a winner.
  22. Highlights, Top 6 and flirting with qualifying for Europe. Robinson's turnaround from a disastrous pre-season that would have embarrassed Alan Stubbs. Whoever scouted Ryan Strain and Keanu Baccus. Lowlights, Pre-season and League Cup performances. Umpteen winnable league games tossed away because of (mainly needless) red cards. Are you paying attention Charles Dunne, Thierry Small ??? Ayunga's season-ending injury just as he was starting to make a serious impact.
