My comprehension of written Spanish isnae what it uased to be but , this article seems to relate to the occasion when Paisley Saint Mirren became the first British team to win a European Cup in 1922, during the Club's successful Spanish Tour of that year. .

    . .nice article. .

No bother , you could always start this years thread on "white dug shite" . There usually is one. I'd maybe give it a few days or week tho', before starting it , by that time the "coconut dug joke " thread , will have ran its course. .

Aye, because SG is the lifelong St Mirren supporter who committed large sums of his own money to rescue our club from an asset stripper who would have put the club into administration / liquidation for personal gain, and whose prudent financial policies returned stability to our basket case of a club, and who conned Tesco into providing us with a stadium fit for our needs has been elected back onto our club board.
Aye, who would want a complete c*nt like him to be in any way involved in the future of our club ??
Honestly, please enlighten me, what are the negatives of his involvement ?

Is it not a fillip for Ms Sturgeon to be hosting this?
or shall we blame it all on the Buffoon from down south?

It’s literally how the technology works. If you imagine antivirus software on a PC, you download updates to protect your PC against the latest viruses.
MRNA technology is designed to allow booster jabs, to protect against the latest variant. My understanding is that in layman’s terms, it gives instructions for your cells to make a spike protein, capable of fighting the latest variant

So should Bob lose his job if he doesn’t accept the latest booster? Think of it as a moral dilemma…

I’m glad you brought this up.

Would it be safe to agree that the term for this would usually be “collectivism”? Prioritising the needs of society over the self?
I get that, and I’d agree that there’s a place for it.

However, would urge you read this book by Klaus Schwab, (Founder of the World Economic Forum)
“Stakeholder Capitalism, a global economy that works for progress, people and the planet”
It’s the theory that companies/governments should be accountable to stakeholders, rather than shareholders. So the emphasis is on “society”, rather than profit. A merging of corporation and state. Those at the top will be able to engineer society based upon their vision for the world. People have been talking about a New World Order for years, being a conspiracy theory, but it’s rapidly becoming our reality.
Schwab makes the point that people should strive to be “global citizens”. Using vaccination as the example: if you don’t accept the latest regular booster jab, you’re not a global citizen and you’ll lose your rights and privileges. There’s a few books on it, “The Great Reset” and “The Fourth Industrial Revolution”.
IMO, it’s leading us down a path where any resistance to the acceptable global view will be hastily clamped down upon. A bit like a modern form of communism.
Some might like the concept, but it’s certainly not like our old version of normality.

Ok. Lets concede that unvaccinated individuals should be banned from travel and leisure, such as pubs, restaurants, shopping centres and entertainment venues until they are fully vaccinated.
3 years from now. We’re up to booster jab 5, there’s still positive cases and sporadic outbreaks.
Pfizer, Moderna, Astra Zeneca etc. all have a financial interest in creating more and more booster jabs. People will become weary of booster jabs and their side effects, the numbers will start to drop off. Some will still be resisting the initial vaccine.
Do you get a certain amount of time to take the latest booster before you are also restricted from travel and leisure?
At what point do we say enough? The companies making the vaccines certainly won’t want it to end, and neither will their stakeholders who tend to be in positions of power

Short period of lockdown to protect the NHS
Longer lockdown, we need to protect the NHS
OK - the NHS is fine, but just another few weeks to flatten the curve until the vulnerable are vaccinated
The vulnerable are vaccinated but just another few weeks, we're being cautious
We know almost everyone is vaccinated but cases are still high
Oh wait, it's almost flu season, further restrictions likely to continue over winter
Climate restrictions set to be agreed at COP26 in November
I fully expect restrictions to be the new normal, especially regarding travel

It seems a bit of a perfect storm
The left wing / progressive / woke view seems to be that restrictions to save lives = good
Now I do get that view. If we can stop people from getting ill and dying from a virus, we should 100% be doing that, but you've got to use some critical thinking to look beyond the bullshit and virtue signalling.
You take a risk when you go food shopping, you take even more of a risk if you visit Primark for a pair of socks.
Like you say, certain people have been given a wee bit of power, and they're enjoying it. Social media companies have never had more power than they have right now.
My main worry is that this infrastructure has now been built - at an enormous cost, all of these new tools are now available
It's going to be very very tempting for governments to use those tools - and that infrastructure. for other purposes, such as getting to net zero carbon emissions, or if they spot a spike of covid cases, or flu. Again, that's something that can be pushed through using woke/progressive politics.

I consider myself somewhat left leaning, but I do wish that there was a bit more open debate and individual thought around what is actually progress, rather than just wanting to be viewed as a progressive person.

At one time, he was adulated and could do no wrong.

I was at that time castigated for not trusting him! [emoji850][emoji26]

The very people who rounded on me are now rounding on him!

    (Rightly so at last imo)

Still.... It's not as if his "bestie" (her words) learned anything from him! [emoji850]

And what about the sleazy female replacement and all those who supporter her, I have to say she is the poorest apology for a politician that I have ever laid my eyes on and that says a lot.  There are  quite a few decent and honest politicians in Scotland but I would not count her among them.
