Tony Fitzy's Achievements

Youth team regular

Youth team regular (4/14)

  1. I actually know this guy. I haven't seen him for years though. We played in the same boys football team in Stevenston (Hawkhill BC). His name is Gordon Sawers and believe it or not, he would only be 37 now. Although he seems to have been a regular customer at the Killie pie stall for the last 20 years. Have to say in his defence that he was always one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. Plenty pals, brilliant laugh. He was always a top bloke. Absolutely mad about football. Playing it and supporting Killie. What a player he was too. He was on Alloa's books for a wee while and then spent the rest of his playing days in the juniors. He was always that wee bit over weight though and that is probably what stopped him becoming a good pro.
  2. I think he would be decent in the Championship and could do a similar type of job to the one Junior Mendes done in 99/00.
  3. If he goes down south a fee will still be payable. He would have to move out of British football to go for free.
  4. True! An ON-FORM Mcginn would, but after the season he has just had nobody will part with 300k compensation for him. He hasn't kicked a ball for well over a year. So Mcginn, like Mclean last summer will be left with 2 options, sign a new contract with us or move abroad for free.
  5. Maybe add a number 6 too. 6. If you absolutely positively MUST take advice from fans make sure you rule out those that can't tell that the Motherwell and RC humpings were an utter embarrassment and that those 2 performances alone should be enough to seal Teale's fate.
  6. Sometimes people take a job for the sake of their family rather than for career progression. I live where I am now due to family reasons and had to take a BIG hit on my salary/career prospects into the bargain. You never know, he maybe only took the ICT job because it was the only/first club to get him back into management and allowed him to put some bread on the table. I don't think it would be take much to get him to move to a central belt club, including dropping a league if he is the type of man to put his family first. Having said that I couldn't see us stumping up any compo for anyone, so it kind of rules him out.
  7. If we follow the following when recruiting a new boss then we won't go far wrong: 1. Don't promote from within.... (Coughlin, Craig, Fitzpatrick, Mcpherson & Teale) 2. Don't get a manager from the lower leagues.... 3. Don't take a retired player with no previous experience from either within or outwith the club. 4. Don't keep Teale who has quite frankly done a worse job than Craig.
  8. Gary Teale shouldn't even be considered for the job in my opinion. Yes, he took over a pile of crap from TC, but he had a transfer window to try and do something about it and somehow has managed to get us performing even worse than Craig did. There is no way anybody can say that TC served us up anything as bad as the Motherwell and County drubbings of recent weeks. We were shite under TC, but Teale turned us into complete shite. NO from me. ETA... Butcher or Calderwood, as it should have been when TC went. Actually! As it should have been when DL went.

  10. It will be interesting to watch from the outside and see what happens with Girona. If in a few years Girona are out of business and the Argies walk away with a sack full of cash, then we can all breathe a huge sigh of relief. On the other hand, if they are an established La liga side who are doing reasonably well for a club of their size, then I for one will be a little bit gutted.
  11. You are bang on with that mate. THE DEAL FOR ST MIRREN IS OFF. I spoke to my mate tonight who lives in the Costa del sewage (Malaga). He says that it is in the Spanish media today that Pini arrived in Girona today and the deal will be announced by tomorrow afternoon. Apparently, Pini and his brother Sebastien along with a USA based Argie and a Swiss investment company will be shelling out 2m Euro for 80% of the shares. They will pay 1m Euro up front and they will also pay 650,000 Euro by the 9th April to stop Girona from going bust. All parties including insolvency court have agreed to the change of ownership and the deal is done basically. St Mirren got mentioned in a few reports too. They said that the consortium had been in open discussions with the Saints board since last year, but that deal will NOT be going ahead now.
  12. That'll be in August at home to Dumbarton

  14. Is this thread title not due to be changed again sometime soon? Here's a couple of possibilities: Club "mibbee" sold - Deal to sell Argie consortium will be agreed "mibbee" this millenium. or Ricardo Pini seen riding Shergar to his lunch meeting with Stewart Gilmour and Lord Lucan. Answers on a postcard.
