Sgt Schultz reacted to guinness in The Quatar World Cup 2022
Unusual to hear St Mirren in a World Cup commentary about six or seven times.

Feels like a defeat.

Sgt Schultz reacted to munoz in Jack Ross Must Go.
Jack Ross gave us 2 of our most memorable seasons in recent times.
For me he will always be remembered as a decent Saints boss.

Sgt Schultz reacted to faraway saint in All the Best for 22
Well, another year is almost on us.
Just when we thought we were close to getting back to some sort of normality, well, another shitshow (Covid) hits us all.
Certainly wearing me down, as it has done for many, and it has a negative effect on most of us.
As for next year, feck off Covid, let us get on with life, feck off LFT tests, masks and social distancing.
All the very best to every Saints fan, and families, here's to a better 22.

Sgt Schultz reacted to faraway saint in St Mirren v Celtic
0-0 final score, what a performance, not a great watch but to a man the effort was immense.
No real options on the bench, just the 11 who went out were asked to defend for almost the entire 90 minutes, and they did. (one late sub)
Lyness and Shaughnessy probably deserve a mention but that performance required every man to do his bit.
A point we never seen coming and very welcome after a worrying week.
Also Goodwin deserves credit getting that from his players.
Oh, elvis, dry yer eyes.

Sgt Schultz reacted to faraway saint in Coronavirus
A year this evening the announcement was made that the UK was going into a real lockdown, not the current fake one.
No one knew what was in front of us, the massive changes to daily life, the beginning of the end of many business's, the loss of many things we, rightly, had taken for granted and the tragic deaths of many people.
To everyone who's came through this, it's something that has changed your life.
Anyone who's lost a family member, or close friend, the pain will subside but never leave you.
This thread has produced some cracking posts, some not so great, but it's a record of a historic year.
It reflects what we've all been through in some way or another, how we've reacted, changed and where we are as people and society.
It's not done yet, but it's close.
Roll on the old normal, shove this "new normal", it's not for me.

So, after reflection, in the cold light of day, we still blew it, defensive tactics were wrong and I’m still disappointed. But not angry any more.
However, we have to put the disappointment behind us and move on.
Congratulations to the Fakes. They’re a much better team than us and deserve their place in the top 6.
It won’t be easy to hold on to 7th slot so we’ll need some big performances in these last 5 league games and a decent cup run.
Players will be playing for contracts, especially our strikers.
Bottom tier means less money available so probably more difficult to keep the players we want and bring in new talent to replace those who will leave.
Hope Dennis is back soon. And that we find out the situation with Quaner.

Sgt Schultz reacted to JPB1957 in Hamilton v St Mirren Sat 20th March
How fickle can people be (including me). We talk about top 6 being a great achievement and when we do not make it it is a disaster. (my comment threw it down the drain). I can understand it was the way we fell at the last hurdle and missed out on goal difference that is sticking in our throat.
What is done is done. Let's pull it together and finish 7th while building for next season. Get rid of the dead wood decide on a formation and get players to fill those positions Now is an ideal time to pick up bargains as team are delaying in renewing contracts. There will be good players out there we can get for free.
PS written with a huge hangover

I'm writing this slowly so you can understand.
As every foul is not a caution and not every offence is a foul.
Then by default a referee is not cautioning a player for A foul but for persistent offences.

Have they changed the caution for persistently infringing the laws of the game?

Maybe 1. Was it seriously foul play or denying a goal scoring opportunity?

Sgt Schultz reacted to oaksoft in Celtic v St Mirren, Saturday, 3.00pm
Still trying to get my head around the fact that the last time we won at Celtic Park I was still living with my parents and hadn't left home yet.
Here's a wee bit of nostalgia....
Oasis were still a few years away from forming.
The Berlin wall had only just come down.
Maggie Thatcher was still in power.
English teams were banned from all European competitions.
Take That hadn't started.
There were only 4 TV channels and you had to watch what and when they decided.
Sky TV wasn't a thing yet.
Elton John had only just had his first UK number 1 with Sacrifice.
Freddie Mercury was still alive.
Most offices had a shared computer.
Mobile phones were not widely in use. If you broke down in your car, you either flagged someone down or walked to a nearby town for a public payphone.
The Maastricht Treaty which caused the Brexit stuff was still two years away.
There was no minimum wage.
Average starting wage for a fresh graduate in engineering was about £10k to £13k in London.
Monthly rent for a one room in a shared house in London was £250 to £300 including bills.
Average house price in the UK was £58k.
My friend bought a 2 bed mid terraced house in west London for £60k. That same house is now over £400k.
It was a completely different world altogether.
