A wealthy eejit that has that much money he doesn't know where it's all going.

I'm paying for me and the boys season tickets, our 1877 club memberships and our BuyTheBuds memberships.

St.Mirren are bleeding me dry.

So there is the real problem,,,After paying for all the other stuff, no one can afford to go buy beers and stuff and the club lies half empty.

Not at all, div is in there most weeks and doesn't know he's been paying close season. He's loaded.

Seriously though, I believe that in the fullness of time the club will be open free to all.

This Saturday a bowling club in Ayr has invited our fans to use their facilities.Their members who will have paid a yearly subscription will be fully aware that they need this passing trade to keep their club going financially. It makes good business sense and their committee member has used good marketing skills in making our fans aware that the club is open to us.Our own position with the 1877 club has to be to increase the footfall and i reckon the members should be balloted on opening the club up to non members and i include away fans from selected clubs at a nominal entrance fee.

We have major events such as the pipe band championships which should be targeted as potential money spinners.Theres so much more going on in the town these days and we have a tremendous facility but its clear that the majority of founder and existing members are not using it pre match.Lets find an amicable way of opening it up to one and all as the one sure way of making more revenue is to increase your customer base.

I thought it was ironic that the well attended SMISA event after the Morton game couldn't have been hosted in the 1877 club.

The event started at 5-30 pm so much of the post game footfall may have moved on

The staff would have been present and the club would have made additional revenue of 250+ patrons drinking / socialising for a few additional hours - instead all that additional potential profit went to a well organised UWS

Is that not part of the problem with this "club" though. There is no constitution, no committee, and as far as I can make out no AGM. There's no mechanism for members to vote for change whether that's to the admission policy or to the brewery they use. It looks like the person running it is Campbell Kennedy.

To me, another part of the problem is the profit - if there is any - from the supporter's bar is not going towards paying off the debt of setting it up, it's just going into the football club's other income. Doesn't seem very fair. As I said before, could the extra income from the bar not be ringfenced to go towards paying off the loan more quickly?

I would imagine that 'profit' or lack of... Is the reason both club and 1877 bods are concerned. Despite the club putting in tens of thousands, and the members contributing the inference is that it is not making money???

when the staff, electric, rates, water, rent (if any), stock and general upkeep bills are paid is there a positive entry each week in the P&L statement? To be clear I have no idea what the turnover is and what if any profit remains after bills are paid. But i do know what a successful retail unit looks like from the outside.

anyone can spend money, any fool can give stuff away, but retail is detail... And that is what must be considered before during and after every action is suggested, taken or ignored.

I heard a wee rumour that the BOD are looking at a Coffee Shop idea

Profits from coffee are huge 1kg of coffee beans can make around 47 cups. Buy the machine from a coffee producer and you get 1kg of beans for £5.00 you have to buy 10kg at a time for that price. This is why there has been such a growth in the market.
