Frank McGarvey' wonky legs
One bright spot is that he will be with us to Christmas at least now and we won't be fending off offers for him on deadline day

Sonny
Certainly not disputing that players can get injured at any time. The problem was we thought it was a friendly and so did the ref. Dundee seemed to think it was a relegation play-off and had to win at all costs. I think our players were very surprised at the tough tackling but seemed to think it would either settle down or else the ref would start to do something about it. The ref unfortunately was extremely reluctant to act and the young blond guy in midfield in particular would have been sent off before half-time in a League game for the persistent and reckless challenges he was dishing out. No surprise that Jack nearly came to blows with the Dundee back-room staff. It was only when Stelios came on and he started dishing out some tough tackles of his own that the rest of the team started started to get stuck in. But in a friendly you do not want to risk injuries so getting stuck in was counter productive to the aim which was match fitness. The tackle on Kyle was a lunge and Kyle tried to keep his leg straight to win the ball. Not the sort of thing the team expected the other night in a friendly. So Kyle got injured and some may say no blame should be made however we were unprepared for Dundee's aggression which was in my opinion way over the top in the circumstances.. davidg
Was a 50/50 challenge that done the damage so no problems imo. There were a few bad challenges in the game, especially from their number 17 and Stellios in the 2nd half but this challenge was a fair tackle. Shame though, he's an important player for us. Hopefully come back strong.
billyg
A fair tackle in a cup-tie Dave , unnecessary in a friendly.

Disagree mate, thought it was a fair challenge every day of the week. Plenty other challenges that were below the belt though. Overall, Dundee were quite rough. Completely out of order the way that wee runt McCann sent his players out, probably has a chip on his shoulder since he was 2nd choice. You want friendlies to be played in a competitive but safe manner - it's hard enough getting a good team out on the park without having them injured in friendlies. McCann wasn't second choice. McCann was first choice but ruled himself out. They came in for JR and when he knocked them back McCann changed his mind.
Paisley brazilians
The thing that was worrying for me wasn't the hard challenges put into our player's but the lack of hard tackles back.let's face it most teams in our league do it so if we are to progress in the championship this season some times we will need to roll up our sleeves and give as good as we get. Agree. The whole point of Games like this are to prepare your side for the season ahead. Lining up part time fall guys for multi goal humpings doesn`t do that. Do we honestly think that Dumbarton , Livi , Dung & Ton are going to stand back and watch us play silky football ? As we have found to our cost , getting out of this league is tough, and as PB says, sometimes (quite often in fact) you have to get stuck in ,

It was more a case of when Stelios realised that the tough tackling wasn't going to stop that he decided enough was enough. And that was nearly at half time. dr rotund
The Magennis injury is a blow but it will give someone else the chance to prove themselves and when he does come back that will be a wee boost hopefully.

This is just wreckless.99% of friendlies are not played in that manner and there's a reason for that.If you believe otherwise you are in a misguided minority along with that wee twat McCann. Just standard polite post match comments, keeping it professional. And of course it is true - Dundee are perfectly entitled to play it as they want to.But did Jack send his team out to play like that? No - as confirmed in same interview. Do other responsible managers? No. Jack didn't look too happy during the game thought right?

stlucifer
Great for the lad but, being selfish, I would have preferred him to have missed this one and continued his progress after injury.
SBS
Well deserved after his performances for the U20 squad in Toulon in the summer, but like St Lucifer, I would rather he sat it out and got back to full fitness for the Saints rather than risk aggravating his recovery. Hambud
Great for the lad but, being selfish, I would have preferred him to have missed this one and continued his progress after injury. He hasn't quite hit the heights of last season yet which is understandable. So a wee break with the scotland u21's to get some game time as well as help him progress through the international age groups can only be a positive. That and the fact he is in the squad means our important game v Livi is postponed allowing us to play, Smith Morgan and McGennis in a really tuff match. Let's just hope they all get a bit of game time but no injuries.

He,s recovered from his injury and all thats missing is match fitness.I think Kyle will be flying after his under 21 stint and that will benefit us big time.Absolutely buzzing for him as i pointed out to my nephew that this time last year he was a youth team player.
