The Run In - Championship 2016/2017

Recommended Posts

Think there's a lot to be said for the team getting the full week without a midweek fixture for the next few games. That Saturday-Wednesday routine was making them look shattered, not so much yesterday as Queens had fully chucked it by the 70th minute but especially against Dundee Utd who cranked the pressure up big time and we were dead on our feet from about 65 mins onwards.

Ayr, though, as mentioned by stlucifer, have a spell where by the time they get to us, we'll be their 3rd game in a week. That's hard going for a part time side who carry a small squad and we should be much fresher by comparison.

14points from the last 8 league games.

Much better and seriously puts pressure on the teams, especially Ayr, above us.

Ricky predicted 13, pretty damn reasonable to be honest, albeit in a roundabout way.

7 games to go.

The league fixtures for the run in are shown below.

The only thing about being the team in form for the run in from here on in is basically having the balls and guts to make it above Ayr. Just hoping we can do this. By the time we play Hibs they will be Champions so we might get something from that one. Ayr and Dumbarton are going to be the acid test ...... Win those two then things look interesting ..... Every game is a cup final for us .... Just keep winning as Ayr, Raith, Dumbarton will drop points. Never thought Ayr and Raith would have collected full points yesterday but hey ho ..... Here we go ...

This is going to go to the wire. Raith, Dumbarton and Ayr are now required to up their game massively as they are in a relegation dogfight now.

Every weekend will see freak results and unexpected results from these side. Expect the unexpected.

The games at home to these three are massive. Win them all and we will be in pole position but lose one or two let's not think about it.

It's going to be a very interesting last month or two.

I'm heading back to the dark side on Wednesday for another 4 weeks so by the time I get back we will be ready to play Dundee Utd away ..... As long as we are still in the mix by then I will be happy ....

As Mr Zo says it's going to the "wire" .... So let's keep the faith! .....

Nerves of steel required! ....

Failure is not an option!

Yeah, it's going to be absolutely crazy and impossible to call. Gamblers would be as well staying away from it.

Given where we were a few weeks ago and how mad things are going to get I'd still take ninth.

The more teams with something to play for the better, that includes Dundee Utd, Falkirk and Morton jousting for 2nd to avoid the 3rd vs 4th playoff game if they don't believe they can catch Hibs which isn't beyond the realms of possibility given Hibs recent form.

It looks like QoS may be the only ones coasting towards the season's end - they are at Kirkcaldy on Saturday while Ayr play Dumbarton.

I think we'll need 4 wins/12 points from our last 7 games.

Naw.. in my opinion it is between us and Ayr for automatic drop, and between Dumbarton and Raith to see who may join either of us in avoiding the play offs.

I agree, however I bet QOS are looking over their shoulders a bit. They can't afford to take their foot off the gas. They could end up in a playoff position if they do. It wasn't long ago we were 8 points off Ayr.

Its unlikely however Ayr, Dumbarton, Raith and ourselves are picking up points and if QOS go on a poor run then who knows?

BBC match report from yesterday mentions QotS only being 9 points off the promotion play off in 5th place. No mention of them being 8 points off of bottom.

If only we'd taken something from Raith the other week.

Still confident we won't finish 10th.

THe good thing is that Ayr play Dumbarton on Saturday so it's not a disaster whatever the result, either Ayr win and we are 4 behind Dumbarton with a game in hand and still to play them at home... or Dumbarton win and we're 1 point behind Ayr and play them at home next... or a draw and we're 5 points and 2 points behind still to play them both and a game in hand over Dumbarton.

No matter what the other results are, if we beat Ayr and Dumbarton chances are we'll be off the bottom going into the game in hand against Morton.
