And support increases............

IN a dramatic boost to Nicola Sturgeon and the independence movement, 50 senior politicians from around Europe have said an independent Scotland would be “most welcome” to join the European Union.

In a letter to Holyrood's Presiding Officer Ken Macintosh, the MEPs and parliamentarians also say that the holding of a second referendum should be one for Scotland alone and tell Westminster not to stand in the way.

Parliamentarians from Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Greece and Malta, pledged their “full support” for Scotland’s membership of the EU after a vote for independence in a second referendum

Disappointing that the Spanish are capitulating , they must their eyes on fishing rights . We should give them Gibraltar for our fishing rights . .

Scottish fishing waters were always going to be a bargaining chip for leaving as much as Scottish gov will use it to access EU. UK gov has already said as much. Gibraltar will be another chip
Unfortunately the Scottish fishermen don't appear to have realised this when they voted leave.

I never doubted the Fourth Reich would want us , if the opportunity presents. .

However , the important one is that , the last time l checked there is still no appetite for another referendum never mind anything like the 60% wee nicky is after . Bearing in mind that the next referendum will most likely be the last ( we can't keep getting No. If Yes we wouldn't ask again ) this one is badly timed , if it gets pushed , and could be damaging to our country. .

It's not as clearcut as you think

The majority of Scots think the Scottish Parliament should have the right to decide if there should be a second independence referendum, a new poll has found.

It followed a vote at Holyrood in which MSPs backed seeking permission for a referendum to take place between autumn 2018 and spring 2019.

The pollster found 53 per cent think the Scottish Parliament should have the right to decide if there should be a referendum in Scotland that would allow the people to choose between Brexit and independence while 35 per cent believe the decision is for Westminster. A further 12 per cent said they did not know.

As a nation there's probably nothing that irks us more than English politicians saying they know what best for us. The current PM may (sic) be the last to patronize us in this way - I certainly hope so..................

So what happens if May trades away the fishing rights during brexit and then Scotland votes for independence. We then take our fishing rights and the UK hasn't "paid" for whatever they got in return. If we then join the EU we will use fishing rights as part of the negotiations, the EU will get fishing rights back but will have "paid" twice for them.

The Scottish Parliament just voted to have a referendum on independence once the details of Brexit are known. So if as planned the vote takes place prior to actually Brexit-ing, then your scenario wouldn't occur.

It would mean that, in the result of a Yes vote, if May has traded fishing rights (or anything else Scottish) then the brexit negotiations would have to be at least partially done again as she would have no right to trade them.

Possibly but that won't be a problem as no deal is better than a bad deal, apparently [emoji15]
