Guest TPAFKATS
Good article, mentions them moving to their current premises in 1974, but does anyone know when the club was formed?
pod
“Paisley is like Beirut without the bomb craters now. And they want Paisley to become City of Culture.” What a stupid statement. Hull was just as bad and turned it around through getting the "City of Culture" title. Ogilvie club had all the craters in their car park the last time I used it. Eric Arthur Blair
I lived in the West End until 1976 and remember the current premises being built. The previous location was in Sandholes St round the back of the tenements whose frontages are on Broomlands St.

Has to be 67, 68 OR 69. I remember sitting, drinking - at a window under the Coffin End looking towards Well Street- playing dominoes at dinner times with workmates from Rootes/Chrysler. Pie and a pint and a game of Doms... followed by a quiet afternoon working... Life was simpler then...
saintnextlifetime
The principal behind the formation of the Club was very inclusive for back in the day. .

They had 40 years to find new members but obviously didn't so there's no point slagging off Paisley. I had no idea this place existed. Been past the building often enough but didn't have a clue what it was. A big sign might have helped. Having said that, these clubs are a thing of the past. Despite the doom and gloom, people do still go out, it's just they generally don't want to go to the same place every week for decades for the same night out over and over again.
