Loud 'n' Proud celebrate Gerry Rafferty Sunday 23rd April would have seen the 70th birthday of Gerry Rafferty and to celebrate him Local music school Loud n Proud are looking for Saxophone players to take part in one of the biggest events of its kind. It is called Baker Street Day and will have 50 or more saxophone players playing Baker Street in the middle of Paisley on Saturday the 22nd of April 2017. It is a celebration of the song which was written by Paisley artist Ger...ry Rafferty and it is recognised to be the number one rock and pop saxophone song in opinion polls and top ten lists world-wide. It will be a day of live music in the town which will finish with the tune being played by all the saxophonists. This spectacular and creative day will be videoed and recorded. The video will be marketed and promoted after being uploaded to various Social Media channels ensuring it to go viral. Internationally well-known and respected saxophone players will lead the session with a live band and local young singers. The event will attract musicians from all over the country and will cater for all ages and levels. Music Schools, Schools and individuals from all over Scotland are invited to take part. The musicians will be belting it out right in the centre of the town at Paisley Cross nearby Paisley Abbey, the Town Hall and other beautiful listed buildings. The popularity of the tune speaks for itself: Number 1 in Canada, USA and Australia and Number 3 in the UK and stayed there for around six weeks. The event will attract 100s of visitors to Paisley either to take part or just to watch the huge band perform.
