What a soap opera this has turned into. The guy is not far from being match fit - he's hardly out for 9 months with an acl...

It's the usual outraged suspects wetting their knickers to suit their agenda.

Good sport though.:)

I didn't ask you to take any pleasure.

I was simply pointing out that it's hardly unusual to sign an unfit player and get him up to fitness.

A weak response by yourself IMO, if you want to go down that route.

oh dear. I would suggest it is more unusual than the norm as I said. Must be the season for huffs.

Its a bit bizarre.

Yes, there is an element of gamble - as with every single appointment.

I look at it this way - if he had been our player already, and his contract was up just now, would there be the same fuss if we had extended that contract based on the fact that he is deemed to be a more than decent member of the squad? Would this type of injury be a good reason not to renew the contract in such circumstances?

I reckon we all know the answer to that.

We aren't signing an unknown quantity, here. The guy has already starred for us. He picked up his injury whilst doing so, FFS!

Too sensible for the drama queens Drew.

"But County's medics discovered the 28-year-old had a groin problem.

"He's had 18 months where he has been carrying an injury and his body hasn't felt right," said County manager Jim McIntyre."

Did they not examine him before signing him?

County medics uncovered his condition, a surprise to the player, it seems

Except he is now able to plot that things have not been right for 18 months, a period where he signed  a series of deals with a variety of clubs.

So he didn't know he was injured, but can tell you roughly when it happened?

Anyway, this is based on a very superficial and lazy piece of reporting and not at all indicative of what clubs normally do

From the Daily Ranger ...

An innocuous challenge with Dundee United midfielder Charlie Telfer left the Englishman writhing in agony.

He had done it before, albeit on the other side.

The prognosis, a dislocated knee cap, brought a promising St Mirren career to a halt in March just – nine games into a loan from Crewe Alexandra.

But the Saints and Davis story doesn’t end there. Having penned a permanent deal with the Buddies in the summer, Davis is now bidding to repay the faith shown in him by Jack Ross and the St Mirren support.

He isn’t back to full fitness just yet – but he revealed that the boots will be getting dug-out next week as he continues getting up to speed following a lengthy six months of visiting specialists in London, while juggling a life changing move to Scotland with his young family.

Davis told Express Sport: “I’m hopefully back running outside next week so I’ll have the boots back on instead of being stuck in the gym.

“It’s nice to be able to do that. You take being able to jog for granted so it will be nice to get back out there.

“The injury itself though was a bit of sickener, especially when the boys were playing so well.

“As soon as it happened I knew what I had done.

“But credit to everyone, they were magnificent in the run in. They played really well and scored a lot of good goals. I don’t think you will find anyone who says they didn’t deserve to stay up.

“I am now looking forward to playing for St Mirren again because I already have a lot of affection for the club, even in the short time that I’ve been here.

“I could have went elsewhere, but I wanted to come back.

“There was no specific reason, it was just an easy decision to make. The way the fans took to me played a big part in it, and the gaffer has always been brilliant with me as well.”

Davis first arrived at St Mirren last January in a last minute, deadline day move to a club he admitted he knew little about.

However, a goal on his debut at Dumbarton, as well as another at Celtic Park to give Saints a worthy lead over the runaway champions quickly cemented the 25-year-old as a fans’ favourite while his attachment with club continued to grow.

So far, as his rehab continues Davis has been forced to watch on from the stands as the league games keep coming.

And having dealt with the pressure of relegation last time around, he insists he is back in Paisley for a promotion push.

Davis added: “Every game since I came in last season was a must-win, a big game, and a lot of pressure came with that.

“It was all for the wrong reasons having been down at the wrong end of the table, but hopefully this season we can continue going in the same manner that the boys have started the season.

“We are looking up the way and we are aiming for the top.”

I don't envy the managers job when we've a full squad to select from , although it's a positive dilemma to have .
