Darryl Duffy

I haven't seen him play in years, but he had a wee touch of class, maybe not a guy who's going to bag 25 goals, but that's what Gavin Reilly's for. I think he adds depth and will compete with Sutton for a start. Also might be a better option than anyone else we have if we decide to go 1 up front at any point.  Welcome to the club Darryl.

Need to get working on a song for him now.

Played with Jack at Falkirk.  Apart from the time in India, Duffy's career is not dissimilar to Stephen Dobbie's: earned a move down south, actually managed to carve out a big chunk of his career in England then returned to Scotland as a veteran.

The pair of them have got an identical goals per game ratio in the UK:

Dobbie in Scotland: 79 in 179 (0.44); Duffy in Scotland: 38 in 73 (0.52)

Dobbie in England: 35 in 187 (0.19); Duffy in England: 49 in 211 (0.23)

Dobbie overall: 114 in 366 (0.31); Duffy overall: 87 in 284 (0.31)

Dobbie came back at the age of 33 and scored 19 goals last season, Duffy's coming back now at the age of 33...........

Welcome aboard etc.

His career bares a strong similarity to Alan Gow.

Highly rated youngster, play for Rangers and Falkirk. Bum about the English lower leagues for a bit, having an impact here and there but never sticking anywhere. Get linked with St Mirren at various times through out your twenties.

Go to India. Then when you're 33, sign for St Mirren.

Let's hope Duffy has more of an impact with us than his kindred spirit did.

Let's hope he has no pockets in his Trackie while warming up.

St Mirren Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Darryl Duffy on a one-year deal subject to clearance.

The 33 year-old makes his return to Scotland after spending the past four years in India, playing with Salgaocar, Goa and Mohun Bagan.

A former Scotland U21 international, the striker had been training with the Buddies over the last few weeks and now puts pen to paper on a permanent contract after impressing manager Jack Ross.

Speaking on the move, Duffy told stmirren.com: "I'm really excited. It's great to be back home in Scotland. I've been away for a long time and to come back to such a good club in St Mirren is fantastic."
