Livingston v St Mirren SPFL Championship 19/8/17

Great result, MASSIVE result.

Even this early in the season it was vital to get back to winning ways.

Victory means we're in the pack at the top.  A loss would have put us in the pack at the bottom.

Thomson was disgraceful as always.

The Irvine incident looked dangerous to me, not sure it merited a red card though.

Jacks reaction at the end of as great, shows we're in a fight already and he's determined as ever to battle out positive results. Hopefully fighting at the right end of the season this year.

Just home.

That's what makes supporting Saints so worthwhile. Grit and determination in spades today. Buchanan had an excellent game. Very commanding and vocal which was great to see.

The new set up worked well, and Jack has obviously taken on board the issues from the cup defeat a few weeks ago.

Plenty for the manager to think about the centre half position next week if McKenzie is fit and Baird is available.

That was brilliant. Just stopped off with the man for a celebratory feed in Kirkcaldy. Struggled ordering food as I've lost my voice celebrating and telling Craig Thompson what I thought of him. Would even question Livvy's first as it looked like a foul. He was an absolute disgrace today, but even with his performance and down to 10 the Buds did the business.
The two quick goals were magic and meant Livvy had to come at us. They usually sit in and spoil, hitting teams on the break. Saints dug deep and Buchanan was superb. Well done to Jack and the boys. Bring on the Arabs!!

Good having plenty of options, especially with card happy refs every week .

What a superb performance, especially in the second half.

Big performances from Buchanan, Eckersley, McGinn and Liam Smith but MOTM (for me) was unsurprisingly Gavin Reilly. Worked his arse off and two goals that showed he can be a top striker, great reactions and finishes for each.

Yassssssssss!

Buckie was MOM by a country mile. Reilly was a close 2nd took his 2 goals really well. Great result despite another woeful ref performance. Time the SFA looked into the standard of refereeing cos it a disgrace.

BTW, we started with a back 4, Eckersley and Smith at full back with Buchanan and Irvine in the centre. Stelios was on the wing. After the red card, Eckersley played centre half (very comfortably too) and Stelios to left back.

Just cos some folk were asking.

That was very pleasing today getting the three points definitely played the right way when we went down to 10men. Livingston have got a good team there they will take points from opposition teams so this is a great three points.

In a strange way, the sending off may have helped us.

Livi like to get men behind the ball, but going down to 10 men meant that we were the ones shutting up shop.

They struggled after that.

Funny how we capitulated last week and played completely different today.

Did Morton, who have no more than average this season, play really well or were we shite?

Whatever, today was critical IMO.

Lose and we would have lost the vast majority of confidence and feel good we had built up and gone into the game with United with the possibility going 9 points behind them.

Make no mistake, today was MASSIVE.

Last week being a derby game we stupidly went for it when we went down to 10 men and a goal down.

This week we sat back as it was 1-1 and had something to defend and fight for.  Livy smelling blood left themselves a bit open on the counter and it played out perfectly for us.

Last week we should have sat in and tried to keep it to 2-1 for as long as possible and go try pinch a point in the final 5-10 minutes.

Different to last week was we lost a goal to go behind from the pen straight after the sending off. Morton do attack where Livy will play on the break so having 10 men against Livy is easier than 10 against Morton. As you said it was a big win that keeps us in touch at the top.

Just back from the game via the pub....excellent gritty performance which fills me full of hope...

-In Morgan,Reilly and Smith we have three skillful, ball playing forwards who can terrorise defences in this league with the right service. We also have three goal scoring options on the bench...Sutton,Duffy and Stewart

-When all are fit,we have 4 centre halves who are way more than just competent

-we have 4 full backs, who can also get forward

-In midfield we have the colossus Mcginn, and soon Mcgennis

-We have a manager with an eye for a player, passion.and a solid grounding in the Scottish game

-And we have ..........the Maverick,Super Stellios

Enjoy this season, with no doubt some ups and downs, but I havent been this hopeful for a long time!
