St.Ricky
Read an interesting article in the Sunday Herald about change in Scottish Football. One of the suggestions was bonus points to encourage attacking football. One take on this could be: Win by 2 clear goals 5 Points Win 4 Points Score Draw 3 Points Draw 2 Points Thoughts? Celtic supporters will love it. Kidding apart, it heavily favours the better/richer teams, irrespective of attacking football or not so, IMO, would just increase the gap. I see your point in some ways but what about games between other teams?

In the Premiership there are Euro Spots to play for and relegation to avoid. In the Championship there are automatic promotion and play off places and so on. It's always likely that the better supported teams i.e. those with most money will come out on top in a season. My view is that this approach might make for greater entertainment as teams are incentivised for scoring. One of the things I like about the League Cup is the bonus point system. Adds spice to the game experience.

United would be on 14 Points. Dunfermline would be greatest benefactor I believe and on 16 points. It is another way of rewarding goal difference. St Mirren scored these goals under the current system. If this new format was in place teams, to prevent other teams getting these bonus points, could shut up shop. It's rather silly to put this idea into current situations.

It may or not be an entirely sound basis for doing so but silly.No. Do you have suggestions to put forward? Happy to read them.

FFS, how can you suggest that we would have won by the same score line had the suggested system been in place? As I said, the opposition could have changed their approach and defended rather than play as they did. The current 3 points for a win was supposed to increase entertainment and goals. Not sure it's even an issue when teams take to the park, winning is all it's about. Aye, my suggestion is we keep things as they are as there is no reason, or improvements to be had, to change the current system.

linwood buddie
If they feel the urge to change the points system it should be the bonus point if the game ends in a draw , as they did in the League Cup sections.
