Injury Updates

Recommended Posts

Have to say I'm also very disappointed Davis isn't fit yet, but when he is he will make a huge difference to our defence, and I am far more relaxed about the situation at the moment given we're top of the table without 3 of our most influential and important players.

Magennis was said to be back in training this week according to Jack's post-match interview on Saturday. Unlikely to feature this weekend, Davis not far off being back in training I believe. Mackenzie another kettle of fish sadly. No idea when we'll see him again.

has McKenzie got a real injury or is it a fall out with manager??

Why would it have to be a fall out with the manager?

Even if it isn't a 'real injury' (mere speculation at this stage) there are any number of personal issues that could feature that have little or nothing to do with his relationship with the manager.

What exactly constitutes a 'real injury?'

There's a few rumours - wholly unsubstantiated at this point I might add...bit they are definitely there  - that Gary is having a bit of a hard time in a non-physical sense with one thing or another.

Does this fall under the category of 'petted lip' or 'ripped tights'? In this day and age, I think it's fair enough that a club might help and be patient with a player rather than telling them to stop whining and get on with it.

As I said, no foundation to this yet but we've all heard the mumblings so it's fair to address them. If this is the case then well done to the club for not rushing the guy back.

You go to games and most faces become familiar just like a village something  else familiar with a village is gossiping story's grow arms and legs from a grain of truth ,  being the big man got a head knock then in Greenock we find out he has been suffering from the head knock from the previous week anyone at the game in Greenock could see something was wrong with the big chap. Flick the coin , weeks have past with no news it would be great to get an update before the village goes into overdrive. One thing clear about Jack Ross he backs his players 150% thats why he has so much respect from them.

Totally agree. Whatever the issue is Gary will be back when he is ready and not before then. Footballers deserve the same confidentiality as anyone else in their workplace.

Maybe the problem isn't the lack of news but the villagers themselves?

Gary will be back when he is ready to come back.

In the meantime perhaps the villagers should get a life instead of speculating.

Political correctness gone mad.
Get over it and get your boots on big man. We pay your wages and need you out there.
Need to get bank of Mac paying out again.

Being told 'Get over it' is probably the most harmful thing to tell someone going through any sort of difficulty. It's attitudes like that which prevent people going through any sort of issues from truly opening up about it for fear of being perceived as weak.

I struggled physically as a result of a completely debilitating back injury I suffered at work that put my life on hold for 18 months before a specialist finally listened, diagnosed that a disc had been herniated in two places and decided surgery was the only option. The mental knock on of 18 months of chronic, unrelenting pain was profound and something I genuinely wouldn't wish on anyone.

Through all of this, I was given little or no support in my work and told to 'get over it' by bosses and colleagues as I struggled to do an 8 hour shift of heavy manual labour at a time when I had trouble even standing up and couldn't take sick leave due to the fact that I was relatively new to the role. Yet I just plugged on in the mistaken belief that I'd get through it to the other side and it would all subside.

This had a terrible effect on me physically, though it was only with hindsight that I realised how badly affected I was mentally. The attitude of those around me made me feel like a fraud and I wondered for so long if anything actually was wrong with me or I was just unable to physically hack the job and it was all in my head.  A cocktail of painkillers, muscle relaxants, and restless nights was all I had for the majority of 2015 and half of 2016 until my surgery last May.

I genuinely feel for anyone whose head isn't in a good place for whatever reason and like others,  I hope it's a load of murmured shite in the case of big Gary. But if there is any truth at all in it, he will hopefully be back when he is ready.

Just under 500 Scottish men per annum commit suicide. The above is an indicator of why men cannot talk about personal issues.

It is also worthwhile pointing out that the only people who need to know about what is keeping Mac out of action are the club board, the manager and his family.

As fans, all we need to know is that he is out of action with no date for his return. He should be getting 100% support from all of us IMO regardless of what is keeping him out,

The hypocrites giving it hard to Gordon Urqhuart.

Shameful.

In the past few weeks the very same have used , liked and condoned the words " unhinged " ,  " sectioned " , etc to attack others on here..

Leave Gordon alone.

Doesnt it gird your loins knowing that the "waiting to be offended" brigade still condemn and abuse so righteously, before even taking a monent to use that big lump in their heids....

seems now a life-long St Mirren fan cant wish one of our better players was back on the park doing what he does best, without a whole host of not just ill-informed, but completely 'un-informed' roasters jumping down his neck!

of course if one of you actually is Gary McKenzie, and ACTUALLY knows something.... i whole heartedly apologise for calling you out on your high-horse.

Just a question..... the player we signed months ago, who is still some way off playing again... would it be wrong to wish he got his boots back on and got out there again..? Is that too unthinking, uncaring and unfairly drawing attention to the fact he's carved a bum print out on the physio's table?
