Dunfermline v St Mirren SPFL Championship 16/9/17

It's a simple analysis, but serious questions need to be asked of our defenders.  We are losing way too many goals, they collapse under the slightest pressure, and seem to lack even the composure and discipline to stay on the pitch for 90 minutes.  Four red cards in three away games!

Haste ye back Harry and Kyle!  Hopefully they can put an end to these away day horror shows!

I thought Reilly and Smith were utterly dreadful as well today, so not just a defensive disaster...

eckersley off after some handbbags at 10 paces right under the nose of the linesman

that was a straight red so he will be out for 3 games, on todays performance thats

a plus point.

Not necessarily 3 games, depends on what the refs report says. was Watching on Pars tv (which is abysmal) and was surprised by the straight red, wasn't even handbags at ten paces. that being said, we got what we deserved today. Hopefully we'll show a reaction next Sunday at batter Queens next Sunday

Well I'm in the Malting Hotel in Carneyhill enjoying food and drink as well emoji106.png As yourself, looking forward to the game.

Well. The lunch was good. The entrance arrangements to the game should have awakened me to the likelihood that the DAFC defence would be making a good job of keeping Saints out. Poor display by Saints but full credit to the Pars, particularly Higgenbotttom.

Got completely bullied today, too many players pulling out of challenges and they were picking up most of the second balls. The gaps in our midfield was a real worry.
Stelios is great going forward, but was at fault for their first 2 from where I was sitting.
We were actually having a good spell when they got their second just before halftime. Their 3rd was hard to make out as it was at the other end, but looked like really poor defending. Thought Eckersley was the best of a poor bunch, before he got sent off.
If Reilly had finished his one on one early doors it may have been a different game, but well beaten today.
Back down to earth with a familiar St Mirren bump. Hopefully back to winning ways next week, but a lot for Jack to think about after that today.

3-5-2 worked ok away to Livy but last week it was a struggle even though we won, surprised we stuck with it today. Better teams will teams drag our central defenders wide and the exploit the gaps.

We don't have many defenders available now but we need to get back to 4 at the back asap.

Bad result but we're 1 point off the leaders with back to back home games coming up. Happy with our position right now.

Our central midfield is the problem away from home. We have one player trying to run everything. McShane would be good in a 3, but it seems like McGinn is just running around trying to control everything with no help. He can't do it on his own, and that's what it is. Their second was a mistake from Stelios, they went down the line, we had 3 men in control of their one forward, simple pass to the edge of the box found a man with all the space in the world. Oh for a Goody to let McGinn be more expressive. We have 2 central midfielders, that's it. Everyone was screaming for strikers and all the rest, but we needed the centre sorted. For all that, this is going to be our season, pump or get pumped. It's going to be fun.

Wasn't at game but from comments made the three at the back is a dud. Mind you we lost two goals last week after reverting to back four. I am disappointed that we have not settled on a secure defence, especially given jack was a defender. We cannot expect to score more than opponents every week or deliver top performances. Still great to be up and contending. Biggest disappointment is the two red cards. Need to address discipline.
