Sonny
Apparently Tony has asked for volunteers to come down to the stadium to help clear the surrounding area. Bring your own shovel if you have one.

Drew
If it chucks it down this afternoon, is there a risk that the pitch will be waterlogged?
Sonny
There seems to be a hell of a lot of taxi drivers taking a day off that could go down and clear snow........
Drew
Just now, HSS said: Difficult to see how this can go ahead given the timescales involved for those travelling a distance. A bit of notice will be required, so it will take some turnaround in the conditions for things to improve radically.
Sonny
If the pitch is playable then the game should go ahead. The polis don't go to Braehead and tell them to shut up shop because of some snow. 5000 fans trampling over it will soon remove it.

I suppose it depends whether it's likely to freeze up as the night progesses. I remember a game about 3 years ago - midweek and it was absolutely baltic, with the paths around the stadium like sheet ice. The game went ahead. Whatever happens, they'll need to call it soon, though. Around midday, most likely.
Drew
If the match is postponed, I recommend a night in with the new series of Black Mirror on Netflix, and a few glasses of red.
Sonny
Supporters buses wont be leaving Dundee until tea-time so I reckon that gives us up until then to make a decision. But 5pm at the latest as that is my pet hate of Scottish football in calling off games after fans have started travelling.
Sonny
Can we just postpone it until Sat at 3pm? Mad idea I know. Edit to add: Its now pissing down in Ayrshire clearing away the few flecks that were scattered about. faraway saint
Road all clear up this way, nothing worth talking, or posting about, until you get past Stirling. Game will go ahead, BT Sport will be making sure of that. Great night planned, St MIrren and Darts on the TV.
SBS
If the council are really in co-operation with the club as they claimed yo be whilst we were supporting their 2021 bid, they should be getting extra gritters etc out to ensure the roads around the stadium are clear. Note I said 'extra'. Don't want to take resources away from the main roads in the area.

One of my neighbours phoned the council to complain that the usual suspect roads don't appear to have been gritted and was informed that the council was now off until 4th January, hence the seeming non-action in terms of gritting the roads. Edit: Seems this isn't the case and 8 gritters are out and about. Edited December 29, 2017 by djchapsticks

Sums them up really. I thought services like gritting and road safety were always a 24hr/365 service. No wonder this country grinds to a halt in winter. I would say they are, parts of the council might be "off" but more than unlikely gritting services. You'd need to be mad to believe that. If they do they are likely to be putting them to use clearing roads and pavements across the 'shire'. The streets around SMP can wait until tonight, if the forecast rain hasn't cleared enough snow by then.

From the council website......................As part of our maintenance duties, we provide 24 hour cover to respond to snow and ice using a fleet of specialist gritting vehicles.
