That's good to hear. All about choice. Aldi and Lidl need to move into the 21st century and cater for anti social buggers like me or we'll just continue using Asda.

As for staffing? If the general Scottish public are the community spirited lefty socialists you seem to think they are, those jobs will never become redundant. I am sure the demise of the traditional high street, manufacturing etc as Scots en masse sought cheap crap made by child and slave labour over their fellow citizens employment were just blips.

Has it ever occurred to you that they may have manned checkouts to keep people like you away ?

I guess that was the plan but I'm not so sure how successful it's been - there's always an operator there to help when people mess up, sometimes 2 or 3 when it's busy.

The problem with the tills is when you have to mix hard product (tins, cartons of milk) with soft product (loose grapes, bread) if you have to arrange your shopping in the bags then the tills often see the second movement as new product and you have to hit the (Not Bagging This Item) button PDQ.

That's what I make, mostly..............

Then I have a new found respect for you.

That is the best bread I have ever tasted in my life.

Went to Tesco today to get the messages and as it says the CO guy was the chirpiest I've ever encountered. Hello, how was I, how had I got to the supermarket, how had my day been? Then he proceeded to tell me that when he finished work he was off to the airport to meet his girlfriend's brother for the first time, said brother returning from Australia. Then he wished me a good day which I returned before staggering out of the supermarket stunned by the ferocity of his friendliness.

There are people I've known for 30 years and said less to . :spud5I kid you not!

Did he manage to get your bank details.

Aldi staff are friendly enough , there are just never enough of them manning the tills and if an item wont scan or has no product code then you are f**ked basically . .always reminds me of a jumble sale somehow , certainly something from another bygone age. It was worse when the staff had to memorise the prices . .

I don't know about Lidl as l never go there . .

I never use self scan checkouts,I'd rather stand in a queue for 10 mins.Tesco in East Lane is opened til midnight but there are no checkout staff after 10pm.I often go in after 10pm and when my shopping is done I request an Operator. They always point you in the direction of self scan, I always ask for the Human touch. It pisses them off big time.

Don't get me started on the hand held scanners a lot of them are introducing.Select, scan, put straight into your supermarket branded carrier bag.Flash your hand held device at the till and straight out to the car...........unless you're the random punter they pick to accuse you of shoplifting.

F'ckem.
