St Mirren V Dumbarton 02/12/2017

We were very poor today.

We let Dumbarton play to their strengths and did not play to feet or move anywhere the ball quickly nearly enough.

Think some were jaded from midweek... Stelios - crazy - this was a real chance for him to show the manager for giving him a start and look at what he showed...

Real poor day in midfield and up front.. we should have played more height up front too and more than 1 striker - has we scored first they would have come out a bit more.

Not having Cammy proved to be a big loss.,

Not to worry - angry fight back in the veins for next week - but not like Stelios please....

It is a hard one to take, but there will be weeks like this for every team (Remember Utd getting a draw with Brechin)

Poor performance from us and got what we deserved. Gallagher nothing to do in goals until stoppage time when he flapped at a cross.

Far too lethargic, slow and deliberate. Not enough urgency and directness. When you're up against a team you know is going to be organised and get men behind the ball when they don't have possession, don't knock it about at the back and give them time to get back into position! Also far too late to make changes considering it's most players' third game in a week and we were down to 10 men.

Deserved win for Dumbarton. Thought we'd maybe sneak something when that boy missed the sitter in the second half. Heard a Saints fan saying afterwards it was "just one game too far" - well our part-time opponents played during the week too so that excuse doesn't wash.

Finally, the atmosphere seemed very flat today. Must be the banner ban.

Would agree with most of that however don't think they necessarily deserved to win.
Under par performance from most of our team and the ref.
Dumbarton - I understand Aitken can only piss wirh the cock he has however wasting time from start if 2nd half when you are a man up is ridiculous. The kind of negativity that Scottish football coaching is riddled with.

Pish. Aitken gets paid to get results. He can be as negative and waste as much time as he wants. Much better than seeing your teams centre half's try to be a creative force.

Jack Ross left it far to late to make the changes plus how Magennis got MOTM I’ll never know.

He was the best of a bad bunch.

No intensity at all today, terrible performance.  We need to work out a gameplan for playing teams that will sit in against us.  Should have had two up front from the start, probably Sutton.

They do take time wasting to extremes though. It's little surprise when you consider he was part of the Stranraer team in 2005/06 that wasted time from the start. Dallas running 50 yards to warn their goalie and not booking him was ridiculous.

Was funny that Aitken moaned about us not giving them the ball back considering they'd had ample opportunity to put it out of play.

Buddies Singing Section Rattled By Sons Tambourine Player

Abject abysmal-ness today! 0 shots on target at home to Dumbarton. Wonder if BuddieVision will ask Jack Ross about a below par performance from W7 today which saw the tiny Dumbarton support out-sing them and drown them out via their adept use of a tambourine?

Our players looked tired today, unable to string passes together or cross anywhere near a St Mirren player when we did get forward, second to the 50/50s. I'm sure others will have commented on Stupid Stelios already - I was at the opposite side of the pitch and predicted a straight red and noticed that while Stelios was going ape complaining about the decision everyone in the West Stand sat firmly and silently in their seats and not one other St Mirren player complained to the referee. All occurring 2 minutes after one of his embarrassing dying swan routines.

Kyle Hutton and Stuart Carswell ran the show in midfield today and Tom Walsh was looking dangerous running at our defence long before he scored.

It's not pish, I pointed out Aitken can only use the players he has available to him.

I'm not using those tactics as any kind of excuse for us not winning.

It doesn't take away from my point that it's shite to watch and won't entice crowds to watch you and the idea of avoiding defeat us endemic in modern Scottish football coaching.

Really? You'd rather waste time than try to keep possession and be creative?

If you want entertainment go to the cinema...
