Danny Mullen

Saints have been linked this afternoon with a move for Livingston striker Danny Mullen.

Robert Grieve who is usually reliable, even though he works for the S*n, says we are trying to complete an emergency loan move with a view to a permanent move in January and the actual article in the S*n suggests he could be in the squad for the game against Dunfermline!

Why would Livingston be loaning us someone who is a regular starter for them?

Can only think that we've agreed to pay money for him in January (his contract is up at the end of the season). Maybe Sutton or someone else is going the other way too?

Worth mentioning too he's been out injured for the past 6 weeks.

They are rubbish and a waste of money perhaps? (Sutton's case, he is not completely rubbish, but on far too good a wage. He is slow and doe not score enough)

This guy is hardly prolific at this level either.

Livi fans comment on P&B

It’s definitely happening, He’s out of contract in the summer and St Mirren are the only club to offer money plus a sell on clause for him, Danny wants to leave and the club don’t want to hold him back.

He’s also one of our highest earners and we are replacing him with a striker on loan.

Good luck to the lad, he’s been an excellent servant to the club, at 22 he’s played well over 100 games for the club, it’s a good effort, he has never been a prolific striker in fact I’d say he’s more of a number 10, does a lot of the dirty work, chases the ball down and despite his size wins far more than he should in the air, he’s a good signing for you guys, I wish him luck.

Looks like the end of the short Saints career for Darryl Duffy.

We desperately need someone else to provide cover/competition for Cammy Smith and Reilly and this would appear to be it.

Just 22, scored 17 goals in League 1 last season and has hit five goals in his last 12 games albeit hasn't played since 4th November.

Good to see us being proactive anyway!

That makes sense if he's injured and/or injury prone our Sports Scientist will soon be down to his last half dozen or so casualties, so we wouldnt want him being laid off due to his work drying up. Welcome to the treatment table son.

Pretty sure Mullen often plays out wide for Livvy. He's certainly quick and can take a man on.

If it's the guy I'm thinking of anyway.

You're thinking of Josh Mullin. I'd take him at Saints. Very good on both wings and excellent with the ball at his feet going forward. A local-ish lad that wouldn't cost a fortune.
