Genuinely feel sorry (if things conclude as they seem destined to) for all the guys and gals who felt Jack wouldnt leave us now, or he had a gentlemens agreement to see out the season etc.. etc... its just football, it happens. In his job you are only ever a few results away from the sack, so i don't begrudge him doing what he thinks is right for his career and family.

if he stayed and we had a dissapointing season in the prem would he be treated any different to Danny or Gus..?

whatever happens, one day like all his colleagues Ross will get the sack, a move to the English championship, that big bump in wages, compo when he's sacked, and being able to get another job asap means he would be turning down a small fortune, and opportunity to move on to a bigger club if he didnt go to Barnsley. So is it worth the risk if he goes, doesnt work out and gets the boot..?

hell yes it is?

Succeful mamagers exoect the boot and the compo. Its insane, but its football!

Wonderful timing - could this situation have been avoided?

How could it have been avoided? The club signed Jack up to a new contract recently and we have no control over when other clubs sack their managers.

We could have tried to avoid it by Tony having a word with Jack to bollock him for reviving the club and saving us from relegation last season, and telling him to stop being so successful this season.

One thing which is clear is that Tony hasn't come out of this week looking good - whether that was because he was bypassed and left in the dark or because he tweeted without telling the rest of the board or he agreed to put on some bravado in the media while being aware things were moving in the background.

He has actually spoken to them.

I however think he will still be St Mirren manager for the Livingston game.

Until something official from the club is announce, I am not believing anything from the press or wee Chick

Other clubs in similar circumstances have refused permission to speak to their manager while under contract.

Tony has never tweeted about the situation. The only time I've seen him mentioned was the newspaper article where he said there had been no approach. It's possible the approach came after that interview, or it's possible he was trying to prevent the support going into a wild panic!

I don't think you can ever question that no matter what Tony says he has the club at his heart, same as the rest of the current board of directors.

as someone posted earlier, there may have been a clause in the new deal allowing Jack to speak to other clubs if certain conditions applied
