I don't think the Russian dude actually gives a feck about threats and pressure from anybody in the World, especially not from us.
His smile is actually scarier than his scowl.

It's only a couple or so years since he called Britain an insignificant island off of Europe.
I doubt he's having sleepless nights over May giving 24 hrs to answer.

I'm no convinced that there's been any substantial evidence pointing to Russia being responsible.

Nothinsubstantial in the public domain.

I guess there's only two realistic options

  • Russia killed a former spy
  • UK Intelligence (Oxymoron) killed a former spy/double agent they had no further use for.

***************

Watched a particularly pointless interview on BBC Breakfast with Louise Minchin (:1eye but I probably would) and an "expert" talking about not much and then advising anyone who had been nearby the scene of the incident to have a bath and wash their clothes - just in case!

Whatever happened to the BBC having credible presenters of serious news?

The poisoned guy spent 6 years in jail in Russia for spying for another country, so why bump him off now when they had ample opportunity in the past?

Yeah, struggling to find a good motive and it's also not in the Russian interest at the moment. They gain nothing positive from this.

Having said that, psychopaths don't always follow logic.

At the time folk were told not to worry. Now a week later it's wash your clothes to remove any of this highly toxic substance. Now there's a car park cordoned off and a parking meter getting removed.

Saw a guy on ITN last night taping up his clothes that he had worn to the restaurant.

Trouble was he has his clothes and hiking boots on the kitchen top and had invited the camera crew into the room to film him putting them into a bin bag.

It's a lot of reds under the bed scaremongering by the guys that brought us the dodgy dossier on Iraq,

OR

our guys really are f**king incompetent.

Either way I'm not feeling too confident...

So much of is isnt and will never be in the public domain so its hard to decide whether there was a motive or not. He may have done something in the last month which has made them decide he needs to go.

Russia's economy is crippled with sanctions at the moment and they really dont want any more.

My two cents worth is that Putin doesnt have as much control over his intelligence agency as the rest of the world assumes. There are probably different people from within vying for power and this has happened without the approval of Putin.

He'll never come out and say that publically or even let our government know that privately as it would be admitting he doesn't have complete control over whats going on.

It' all just guesses though. We'll never really know.

Yes there is....  They have already said  " IT WISNA US " That's all the proof you need, they never admit anything

Did you by any chance have an ancestor who used to check if wummin were witches by tieing them up with rope and rocks and throwing into a river?

Just so we're clear, if someone accused you of, say....gross indecency, and you hadn't done anything wrong and protested your innocence, that would mean you are clearly guilty?

Okaaaay....

Loads of reasons,   Putin has made it very clear one thing he wont forgive or forget is betrayal to the motherland, high treason in Skripals case.

That's one reason. It doesn't really stand up to scrutiny though - the Russians had him in prison for 6 years, why then release him to UK then go to such convoluted means to attempt to kill him. Especially when they are already pretty isolated politically and have sanctions hanging over them.

He was sentenced to 18 years for his high treachery, served 6 and was part of a spy swap.  Like it or not this is not an open and shut case.

With an upcoming GE in Russia one "expert" on BBC News was suggesting it would suit Putin to fashion a scenario were a foreign govt. took action against Russia so he could play the "hardman" card - makes as much sense an any of the explanations I've heard so far.

As scottd says it's "not an open and shut case" we'll likely never know the truth.

Yeah, ITN said that too however at the same time said he was going to win the election no matter what as it was rigged [emoji849]

I actually quite like Putin. Id go as far as saying i prefer Russia to America.

We only see what we are shown and hear what our govt chooses to tell us. My opinion it seems that unless the worlds leaders bow to the US as supreme power then they are outcast and branded as terror states and the like.

Putins just got bad luck with us that Sturgeon and Davidson are on thier dabs at the same time and theresa may is menopausing out her dids.

As for Trump... rather than picking fights with everyone that looks different to him he should be swallyin viagra like popcorn n getting stuck into Melania... unless thats the daughter and ivankas the wife. Theyd both get it mind u.

Russia, Putin, had nothing to do with it, so, "whodunnit".......................

Loving the attempts to deflect the majority of evidence/opinion that is available.

Maybe one of the people concerned, like some Russian clown suggested, had a heart attack?

Synchronised heart attacks would have been quite startling.

Lots of conspiracy/deflection theories but the fact is 2 people were poisoned by a substance that requires considerable skill/government/financial backing to be produced.

Maybe it's right we (The UK) should roll over but some, if minimum, reaction is required in the face of the "It wasn't me" response from Russia.

Would be interesting if some person living in Scotland had had an attempt to kill them had taken place,

Looks as if some would side with Russia before any other possible culprit.
