Darren Jackson Head Coach

Recommended Posts

Yeah. I can't remember ever taking umbrage with Darren Jackson. Indeed, he spent the majority of his career operating at a higher level then we were playing at, at that point.

Don't really see the issue in this if he's come in as a coach. Welcome to the club, Darren.

Was it to with Les Fridge ?

Yeh, that was it. Quick google. We lost 3-2 up at Tannadice in 1991.

Les Fridge had to be carried off after colliding with Jackson's boot.

That's how I remember it too. Kenny McDowell went in goals.

Jackson revelled in the abuse he got as I remember it, but I gained a respect for him watching him play for Scotland and seeing just how hard he worked as a player.

I think McDowall saved a penalty? Or am I making that up?

We used to have a few on the blacklist:

Darren Jackson

Paul Hartley

James Grady

Ross Tokely

Sam McGivern (I think.... can't remember his crime)

and going back a few years...

Ally Dawson

Danny McGrain

Yes he did.

There's a report and a picture of it on here

Stevie Kirk was also hated - probably for his involvement in Abercrombies triple red card.

He's a relegation specialist ! Dundee U were heading there when he got the bullet , same at Raith. Awful appointment !

Stubbs must go

What an absolute bollocks of an appointment, i cant believe the board has sanctioned this appointment.    Hopefully this is just a bad rumour/dream.

Totally agree. Failed football agent, no reputation as a coach and had an affair with his best mate's wife. Dismal appointment.

On the subject of goalies being injured, did Hearts not once have a guy called Baird who assaulted Campbell Money on a fairly regular basis?

Anyway, appointing Jackson is a Stubbs masterstroke. All he has to do is ask him what McNamara or Locke would have done in a certain situation then do the exact opposite. Simple!

They are too generic. Fans of every club hated them. You could probably list most of that 1986 Hearts side in fact.

Its the St. Mirren specific villains that I'm after.  :P

Les Fridge suffered internal bleeding as result of Darren Jackson in that game at Tannadice.

In the late 90s I remember reading that Darren Jackson had water on his brain and had to get emergency treatment, surely he could have just got a tap on his head to stop it.

Which is fair enough but I think it's important to note that he's not in as assistant and so his role is greatly diminished from his previous spells at those clubs.

Also, I'd rate Stubbs as a better manager than either Locke or McNamara.
