Dundee Utd 0 St.Mirren 0

Written by B&W Army Webteam.

Saints hard slog in the SPL continued yesterday as they dig deep to scrape a point at Tannadice in a fairly dismal game against the Arabs.

Missing the suspended Steven Thompson, the buddies carried very little threat anddthis third consecutive goal-less draw in the SPL did the Paisley side few favours, with hopes of top six football fading quickly

Here's what the media made of it all.

United midfielder Rankin fired a deflected shot wide for a fruitless corner as the home side tried to break the deadlock

Hasselbaink could have netted a late winner for the Buddies but the Dutchman, who was sent off when the sides met at Tannadice earlier this season, could not turn Imrie's cross past Dusan Pernis in the United goal.

There was still time for Imrie to test Pernis from distance but the Slovakian keeper was equal to the winger's low drive.

St Mirren failed to produce a single decent effort on goal, which is not so surprising, given that their previous two league matches were also scoreless. No sooner had Lennon said his team were fortunate to leave with a point than Houston was saying the same about his team.

United were slightly better up front, but not so much that their manager was about to get carried away. When it was put to him that the match had been a disappointment, Houston begged to differ. “I thought it was brutal,” he said. “The goalkeepers didn’t even need their gloves today. From middle to front, we have better quality than that.”

Wasnt at game but ANOTHER HUGELY DISAPPOINTING DISPLAY WITHOUT A GOAL AND LUCKY TO GET A POINT AND AS I HAVE SAID BEFORE ITS GOALS POINTS AND WINS THAT MAKE PRIZES.Danny doesnt seem to have a plan b or c and i FEAR FOR OUR SPL SAFETY IF DUNFERMLINE OR HIBS GO ON A GOOD RUN AND GET WINS ON THE BOUNCE AS WE COULDNT SCORE AN OPEN GOAL AT THE MOMENT and we cant rely on dunfermline and hibs still being as mince as they are on the runup to the end of season. I have to question danny coaching of the strikers and the tactics he employs and why as suggested on previous thread that nigel was dropped after playing well and scoring and if saints cannot beat aberdeen next saturday it was such a good idea to give him a new 2half year deal as we are in same position as we have been for many years and i still feel danny has yet to prove to me he has got it. ANYONE AGREE WITH ME?

I must agree with you Roger. We have scored 25 goals in 27 league games!
Not a very exciting statistic!
But why is this the case? We are every bit as good as most of the other teams in the league. A little practising at training may help the situation
I saw in Alba that McGowan practices "bending" the ball ....... who else does the same thing?
We pass the ball well to each other...... how about practising shooting the ball at the opposing goalkeeper?

all of a sudden we have "must win " games coming up starting with Aberdeen on Saturday. it is not up for debate we must win and win well and we MUST do the same against hibs and dunfermline for a start. unfortunately that entails scoring goals. not something we are renowned for at the moment. but we could break the habit of a season and convert the chances that we make.

We went on a scoring slump after McGowan got his player of the month for December 2011 and also a bit fuzzy after Danny got his contract extended!

Seems they don't still listen to the fan's so sorry dudes and dudettes I'm gonna shout WE NEED A PROVEN GOAL SCORER AND WE HAVE NO CHANCE GETTING SUTTON AS HEARTS ARE MEANIES!

I must agree with Roger.

3 wins in the last 16, two of which were against first division opposition is not good or indeed a step in the right direction.

Lack of goals...I know it sounds daft but do they have such a thing at training as shooting practise??? Practise for offensive corners?

At the warm up before games not much shooting goes on. When the keepers are warming up it is the goalkeeping coach and reserve keeper putting in the crosses...Would it not be wise to get the wide players who's job it is to cross the ball to do this??? Shooting practise for the keepers??? Reserve keeper or a striker? It dosen't seem like rocket science to me!!!

Would it not be nice if somebody at St Mirren answered our fears and worriesin this web page instead of the usual bland comments in the papers.
Perhaps nobdy is allowed to speak out !
If that is the case then speak with your feet and score some goals on Saturday.
This is a BIG game and a must win game.
