One Darren McGregor

Written by B&W Army Webteam.

The club have confirmed today that Darren McGregor has indeed ruptured the cruciate ligament in his right knee, an injury that will most likely see the popular centre half miss the remainder of the season.

The hammer blow to both the player and the team comes almost 12 months to the day that he suffered the same injury on his left knee against Dundee Utd. That one kept him sidelined for 7 months and after a very long and painful rehab the big man looked back to his best in the first couple of games of the season.

McGregor was of course the overwhelming choice as Player of the Year after a magnificent debut season in 2010-2011.

It's a nightmare blow, but if any player can bounce back from this it is Darren McGregor. I'm sure all Saints fans will want to add their best wishes to the bottom of this article and wish Darren well as he prepares to begin the long battle yet again.

Genuinely gutted for Darren on hearing this news. The atmosphere at the ground changed after the incident, and you could sense how upset everyone was, players and supporters alike. That is testimony to the regard in which the big guy is held. All the very best in your rehab Darren, we're all 100% behond you.

Gutted for the club losing an important player for the season. However, much more than this, I'm absolutely devastated for Darren personally. To show such strength of character and professionalism to bounce back last season, only to have is taken away again is simply awful for you.

I genuinely hope you come back stronger than ever. In fact, I genuinely believe you WILL come back stronger than ever.

Just as your recovery was in the thoughts of SMFC supporters last season, you'll have our total 100% backing again through this.

Keep the Faith big man!

Such a blow to have one of our best players out for last season and a real kick in the stones to see lightning strike twice. You are going to be sorely missed on the field Darren but you have come back from this once and you can do it again. Best of luck on your road to recovery. We will all be here eagerly awaiting your return. KTF

KTF Darren. Very easy for me to say I know but you've done it once and you'll do it again. The road ahead is full of challenges, it is how we face those challenges that defines who we are. You meet challenges head on, making you an inspiration and role model for fans and team mates alike.

Wishing you a speedy, hitch free recovery.

With best wishes and respect, BTG

Gutted he will be out of the team, but the big man gutted himself/ His experience of top flight football has been wrecked so far by two freak injuries.

He worked hard to come back from the first injury, and while this may be worse now with the second one, knowing what lies ahead and how hard he is going to have to work to get back again, but he's done it once, and he can do it again.

A definite fan favourite and all the fans are right behind him.

Speedy recovery big Dazzler and you'll be back before you know it.

Darren - Last season you may remember signing my photo of you scoring at Ibrox, which helped raise money for a most deserving charity.

Stay positive - we'll be seeing photos of you scoring again, don't you worry about that. Just not at Ibrox.... Division 3 football!?

Best wishes, hang in there.

Paul Baird.

Looking forward to seeing you in the stripes again soon Big Man.

Unbelievable bad luck to get the same injury at the same point of the season twice running, esp after such a good start and recovery from last season. If the fans are totally gutted, can't imagine what it is like to have it happen to you.

Just have to keep strong, keep involved and focus on get back playing soon
