Hearts Preview

Written by B&W Army Webteam.

Saints entertain Hearts at St.Mirren Park this afternoon, looking for revenge over the Jambos who eliminated the buds from the Scottish Cup last time the sides met.

Danny Lennon has doubts over loanee Paul Dummett, who scored in the midweek u-20 win over Motherwell and Kenny McLean who picked up a knock whilst away on international duty with the national u-21 side.

Darren McGregor and Grant Adam are of course both missing through their longer term injuries, with Daz set for surgery on his cruciate injury on Sept 27th.

The visitors will hand a start to Ryan Stevenson as they look to end a scoring drought that has seen them fail to hit the back of the net in 229 SPL minutes.

Both sides have won only one of their opening 5 games to date, but similarly both have only tasted defeat once so we are set for another tight and tense afternoon in Paisley !

Here's the OPTA stats ahead of the match;
  • St Mirren have beaten Hearts only once in their last 14 meetings (D4 L9).
  • The last four games between the two at St Mirren Park have produced just seven goals.
  • St Mirren have only tasted victory once in their last seven games (D4 L2).
  • The Buddies have score 12 times in their last six matches at home.
  • The two clean sheets St Mirren have kept this season have both been away from home.
  • Hearts haven't scored in 229 minutes of SPL action.
  • The Jambos' 1-0 defeat to Dundee last time out ended a four match unbeaten run (W1 D3) however, they have not won since the opening weekend.

Should be a decent game, I'm going to go for a 2-1 win for the darling buddies, COME ON YE SAINTS !
