St.Johnstone Preview

Written by B&W Army Webteam.

Saints will be without the injured Paul McGowan as he prepares for an operation on his injured shoulder next week that will keep him sidelined until the new year.

The loss of Gowser is a huge blow for Danny Lennon with the influential midfielder joining Grant Adam and Darren McGregor on the long term injury list.

Other than those three the manager does however have a full squad to choose from with the team still buzzing after last weeks dramatic win over Ross County.

The buds have fairly fond memories of McDiarmid having won here twice last season. Kenny McLean got a late winner on league duty there this time last term.

Opponents St.Johnstone also have injury woes ahead of the match with strikers Steven MacLean and Rowan Vine missing through injury and suspension respectively. Indeed Callum Davidson and Jamie Adams are also major doubts for the Perth side who claim to only have 13 senior players fit for the clash.

Former Saint Nigel Hasselbaink is therefore sure to feature and he will get a red hot reception from the visiting fans who were none too chuffed at his decision to leave for the Saintees in the close season.

The hosts are on a fine run of form having won their last three league games including terrfic wins over Celtic and away at Ross County with only ten men.

Remember that admission is just £15 for adults for this one which includes two free tickets for under-12's, a real SPL bargain which makes a change !

Divs Prediction; I'm not buying the injury crisis at St.Johnstone, this is the same sob story they came out with in the lead up to beating Celtic. Saints will miss Gowser for sure but the five goals scored without him last weekend shows that there are still plenty of attacking verve in the squad even without our talisman. We need Kenny McLean to stamp his influence on the game and for Carey and Imrie to deliver from the wide areas. Quietly confident we can get something today, even a point would not be a disaster but we have to take our chances when they come along !

So sad ! We just cannot win back to back.
I really thought we would have done it today.
I was not at the game so can make no comments but from the reports we did have chances.
The media did seem surprised that Danny started with Thompson and Parkin but I thought they played well together last week.It bwill be interesting to hear what supporters at the game thought

Well, as St. Mirren supporters, we should be used to not winning "two games on the bounce". It is the St. Mirren way. I wonder what the odds were with the Bookmakers for Nigel Hasselbaink to score. I was actually tempted to go and put a bet on him scoring today as that's another thing that seems to happen to us - ex players scoring against or having one of their better games against us. Still, that's life. My thanks to the mods on here for banning me "for my own good". A subtle way of saying I can go and chase myself and not be allowed to say what I want but others can make any kind of allegations and rumours about me. Well done lads.

Once that nonsense of a National Team is out of the way we'll have a game back in Paisley. Looking forward to it already.

Aye, if you're not part of the "clique" you're chucked out! Nice touch, not allowing me to even access the pages of the fourm such as the music thread and stuff like that, but I guess you're all hiding all the snide remarks about me.
