Vankini Collection On Sat
Anyone visiting the site in the last few months will be aware of our "Vankini" campaign which is raising money for the Yorkhill Childrens Foundation.
We offered a bet to buddies roving right back David Van Zanten that should he break his barren six year scoreless run we would donate £100 to the charity of his choice and again for each time he found the net this term.
With the prospect of a goal admittedly looking bleak, Lee Mair suggested that as a forfeit for NOT scoring this season, Vanzy would have to wear a mankini on the last home game of the season and sing "Like a Virgin" by Madonna to the (probably bemused and horrified) Saints faithful. The fans would then donate anyway towards this tremendous cause.
Vanzy accepted the challenge and many other buddies joined in and pledged to donate so we setup a formal Just Giving Page to securely collect the money for Yorkhill. The Vankini campaign was born.
And the Irish Dutchman didn't let us down, grabbing the all important winning goal at Tannadice on December 30th, prompting a fantastic Vankini celebration;

Donations kept coming in after that sensational strike, and we have currently raised an excellent £1618.10 for the Foundation.
The club have been hugely supportive of our efforts and today general manager Brian Caldwell contacted us to offer the use of the stadium this coming Saturday at the game against Ross County for a bucket collection in aid of our chosen charity.
We in turn contacted Yorkhill Foundation who have offered us branded sealed buckets and vests to assist our efforts. Claire Hughes of the foundation said today "I would like to say a big thank you for giving us the opportunity to hold a collection for Yorkhill Children’s Foundation at the match on Saturday. It is a lovely gesture and we really appreciate the support! Hopefully the collection will be a success, helping us to raise vital funds for Yorkhill Hospital and related facilities."

If you would like to help us with the collection we are looking for five volunteers to join your baldy webmaster on the day. You would need to be down at St.Mirren Park for around 11:15 on Saturday morning given that it is an early kick off. Email us through the website or at

if you are up for getting involved.
So, look out for the Yorkhill buckets on your way into the match on Saturday. We will have a volunteer at each turnstyle, so please give whatever you can spare towards the cause.
Thanks to everyone who has donated to date, to Vanzy for his goal and his enthusiasm for the campaign, to Brian Caldwell at the club who as ever has been a brilliant help, and to Claire at the Yorkhill Children's Foundation for her speedy assistance in getting everything together so quickly.
Here's to a good bit of fundraising on Saturday, three points and maybe another Vanzy goal !

Yorkhill serves the whole of the west of Scotland, not just Glasgow.
I know plenty of people in the Renfrewshire area who have used and benefitted from the excellent care and services offered by the amazing staff up there.
Besides, does it really matter where the hospital is if it is helping sick children get better ?
If you don't agree with what we are doing then don't donate, simple as that.
Man up Vanzy!
I'm also entitled to say what I feel, I didn't exactly say take the kids out the back and shoot them....that would be "out of order".
This country is in a shocking state and the people that have been put in charge are guilty of not doing there job properly you should all spend some time looking at where our tax money has been going then you would soon change your tune.
I would make it easy and send links but you all know how to use the "interweb".
And remember like you already know (I will part on good terms here) It is YOUR choice, It is not mine. Plus it's good to see that you can give an opinion here and not get sworn at.
