Vankini Goalhunt !
We are pleased to announce the launch today of the "Vankini Goalhunt", our unique charity fundraising venture with buddies flying right back David Van Zanten the unlikely hero of the hour !
Vanzy has come close to notching a rare goal for the buddies on a couple of occasions recently, none more so than after his Roberto Carlos style run against Ayr Utd in the league cup win.

DVZ last scored for Saints against Hibs in 2006 - a cracking strike
from about 60 yards out(which legend has it secured his three year contract with the Hibees but we won't dwell on that), but in this second spell with the darling buddies he has yet to find the back of the net.
We had a bit of craic on Twitter about the goal drought and offered to sponsor him through the website for £100 per goal he scores this season, donating the money to the charity of his choice.
DVZ chose the Yorkhill foundation as his charity and accepted the challenge, promising a goal laden season ahead (or words to that effect).
We then discussed this on the forum and others decided to pitch in too. We got as far as £700 worth of pledges per goal before deciding that we really had to open this up to Saints fans, and anyone else, who wanted to join in.
Then we thought, hang on a minute, what if the unthinkable happens, Vanzy might not score this season !?

So, we asked those who had pledged about this unlikely scenario unfolding, and pretty much everyone agreed that the would all fork up anyway, as long as the talismanic Irish Dutchman took a forfeit for shooting blanks.
Vanzy accepted to take this forfeit on and we asked his fellow defensive partner and manic Tweeter Lee Mair to come up with a suitable suggestion, which he duly did !
So, by the end of the last HOME game of the season, if Vanzy has not scored any goals he must take to the field after the match wearing only a mankini, with the microphone, signing "Like A Virgin" by Madonna in front of the Black & White Army.
Mairzo you are sick man !
We will also arrange to have fundraising buckets available on that day in the unlikely event that it comes to pass so that everyone in the stadium that day can contribute to the cause :-)
