Paul Dummett Signs

Written by B&W Army Webteam.

Saints have secured the services of Newcastle Utd defender Paul Dummett on loan until the end of January.

The 21 year old Welshman can play at left back or central defence so ticks two big boxes for Danny Lennon and Tommy Craig.

Paul will go straight into the squad for tomorrow's trip to Aberdeen.

The Newcastle website says of Paul;

A tough-tackling defender who can play at left-back or in the centre of defence, Paul Dummett has captained Newcastle's Reserves on several occasions and has been involved with the first-team, although he still awaits his competitive bow.

He was named in the matchday 18 for an away game at Fulham and the 4-4 draw with Arsenal in 2010/11, while last term he was an unused substitute against Nottingham Forest in the Carling Cup.

And in pre-season, he was part of the squad for the trip to Portugal and played as a second half substitute against Greek champions Olympiakos, having played against Darlington, Leeds and Columbus Crew the previous summer.

Loaned out to Gateshead towards the end of last season, the left-footed youngster impressed at the International Stadium and returned to his parent club having won a player of the month award with the Heed.

Capped by Wales at youth and under-21 level due to his Welsh father, Dummett attended Kenton School and played for Red House Farm juniors. With United since the age of nine, he enjoys snorkeling, golf and tennis.

He was given the squad number 36 for the current campaign.

Welcome to the club Paul !

I do not know this player but he seems to have a good pedigree.
He is left sided , which is a great bonus, and could be the answer to our needs.
Welcome to St Mirren Paul and we wish you all the very best of suppoprt.
