St. Mirren v Dundee (March 2019)

Was disgusted to hear some of our so called fans boo and swear at Paul McGowan when he came on as a sub. Just for those who don't know he never asked to leave Saints Tommy Craig said he was over the hill and not good enough. And I was at the fans council meeting when he said it. So if you wanna boo anyone try Mr Craig. Disgusting behaviour. Guy is a legend at Saints MOM In the final.

Oh, for the love of god. There were reasons for the “weakened” side and none of them were to do with throwing the towel in. Ferdinand for McKenzie - GMac was not fit to play two games in 4 days having been out a year. Corbu for McGinn - it was stated on here that McGinn was carrying a knock and wasn’t fit to play 90 mins. McGinn for Lyons - upgrade. McPherson for Dreyer - Tactical as we expected to have to defend more and this isn’t Dreyer’s strength. Kellerman for Flynn - Flynn was injured. Ethan would likely have filled this role but was suspended. Cooke for Mullen - Mullen has just played his first game in a while and Kearney clearly felt 3 games in a week would be too much. I know that a huge part of your reason for being is to dig the BOD and the manager for anything that allows you to express whatever pent up aggression/frustration you have but you’re barking up the wrong tree on this one. Maybe Kearney could’ve risked a couple of the above players but you would have been the absolute first to get on his back if we’d lost anyway and the likes of Flynn were then out for the Accies game or more. Incidentally, the performance against Celtic with this weakened team was no better or worse than previous efforts. Dry your f**king eyes and get over it.

    Stephen McGinn. Does he understand?

Fairly obvious our captain is criticising guys like Baird, Flynn and the other McGinn for not being fluent in Czech and Romanian.

Given we spent so long in 12th place and at one point were 5 points behind Dundee I would have bitten your hand off to avoid 12th. That is our first point at Accies in years and people are still complaining. 10th is absolutely within our grasp. Remember Hamilton have a very tough derby against Motherwell to come and they have to visit us as well. 4 points have been banked this week. Dundee now need a minimum of a 2-result swing to overtake us, given the goal differences, with 5 games to go. I'd say that was a f**king good 7 days.

Great management tonight. Played exactly the way we should have. If we'd had a go at them we'd be sitting here nursing at least a 5-0 tonking. On to Saturday now having suffered no collateral damage and with key players fit and rested. The bigot fans really are scum. Not that this observation was ever in any doubt.

St. Mirren v Dundee (March 2019)

Ryan Flynn was immense today. I'd call that a Murray-esque performance. He got himself involved in everything that went on the centre of the park in a way that not only reminded me of Hugh Murray, but may well have saved us from relegation in the way Murray did all those years ago in Stirling. In my personal opinion (not worth much, I know) Flynn has gone from getting punted out the door in January to be deserving of a new contract and a place in the middle of the park from now on. Tansey will be lucky to ever play for us again even if he does get fit. It was great to see all three home sides of the stadium up signing Oh When The Saints as the clock ran down. I honestly think instead of making up bullshit stories and disgracing us in the national press the board should look at how they can use the energy of W7 and get those guys creating an atmosphere like that all round the stadium. We have a real chance to be the best support in Scotland..... ....On that note well done the W7 crew for chanting Simeon Jackson's name when he came on. f**k Allan Preston and the BBC knobs that made such a big deal of his penalty miss. Dundee were piss poor, we surely will not finish last behind them. If we do, relegation is the least we deserve. I'd love to see us playing with a bit less fear now. Kearney has done a great job steadying the defence. A f**king brilliant job actually, and Popescu is one of the best players in the league not just in our team. Oran - lets see what McAllister, Magennis and Duckens can do attacking this shower of shite we are up against for the rest of the season. Flynn, Magennis, McGinn - McAllister, Duck, Jackson: aye, I fancy our chances of winning a few points now. Well done all Buddies there today. Big crowd, kept supporting even when behind, good party at the end. We are staying up.

St. Mirren v Dundee (March 2019)

Thought Anders Dreyer had his best game in a St Mirren shirt for us today. Played a big part in our first goal and he was also the one who assisted lyons with the second. Delighted for him.
  8. 14 points
Hladky is the best keeper we've had since Campbell Money! Popescu is one of the best center halfs we've had in forever. I hope we can keep them. Those two and Flynn give us a spine. We were spineless for too long. Flynn was immense again today, despite taking a few sore ones. Plenty in that match to be encouraged by despite the result.
  9. 14 points
In a season where we have not scored very many goals and our midfield has included about 12 different players, it might just be time for a defender to win POTS Popescu is absolute class, as is Hladky in goals, but for the entire season long, despite a few critics on here Jack Baird has been there at the heart of our defence through both halves of the season. He has made the most blocks, won the most tackles and headers and although he made one or two errors, I take my hat off to the lad who IS our longest serving player. Home grown talent I know he does not do the magic stuff that fans crave - but he does the dull but vital stuff in our half. I hope he rounds his season off with a goal or two for us to cap his season with some of the stuff the fans do notice...

My opinion is that Brad Lyons is one reason why we are no longer constantly over-run and out-fought in midfield. He's been a decent addition to the squad and it has been unpleasant to see him singled out on social media and also during games among the St Mirren 'support'... Ryan Edwards was a trier but hardly ever found a St Mirren player with a pass. People seem to forget that its not that long since we had guys like Hodson, Paul McGinn being played in midfield alongside Edwards before we brought in Dreyer, McAllister, Tansey and Lyons during the window and saw Ryan Flynn return to form.

Livingston v St. Mirren 20th April

Nah, completely the wrong mindset. From here on in we must approach every single remaining fixture with 3 points as our target. For 3 of the remaining 5 fixtures our opponents have nothing at stake and their players will have holidays on their mind. We must impose ourselves and batter the shit out of them. Draws would only be an acceptable outcome if we happen to be losing with a few minutes to go.
  13. 12 points
f**k sake, time to put a few more in the sin bin. If you only come on here to slag off individual St Mirren players & other St Mirren fans then you can get sent tae f**k in my opinion.

St. Mirren v Dundee (March 2019)

Just in and still buzzing. Wasn’t pretty at times, but massive result. McKenzie was like an exciting new signing today. Won everything and brings a ‘presence’ to the team, winning everything at the back. Flynn was superb too, he’s such a clever player with great feet and composure. He read the game, breaking up their play and creating stuff for us too. Dreyer can be a bit frustrating as he sits off his man too much, but his cool head/decision making set up our winner. Think he could be an important player as his confidence grows, but needs to show more dig. Great shift from Mullen too, considering he’s been out for ages. He’s like a Duracell bunny and must be a nightmare to play against. Someone needs to explain the offside rule to him, but he was superb today and great movement for his goal. The whole team did the business today and deserved the win. A big lift after Wednesday night and the near full stadium was a great sight. Hopefully we can build the momentum with 4 points from the next 2 games. If we can beat Hamilton it will really drag them into the dogfight. My son wangled an away top out of me at the shop, resulting from the euphoria at full time and he got a wee nostalgic tour of of Paisley with his dad’s, grandad’s and great grandad’s haunts before the trek back to Fife. Great day to be a Buddie.

    W7/North Bank Treatment

Near an age of obscurity when I should really be knocking all these young whipper snappers of the modern era and reminiscing over those halcyon days when our generation were all angels. I have to say I thought the young team were outstanding at Perth. Their support was unfaltering throughout the match. I do have my reservations about the way the authorities dealt with some of the more mature members of our support. I was sitting well in front of the North Bank and therefore wasn't watching what was going on behind me but a sudden influx of stewards and police rushing up the stairs attracted my attention. I'm not sure what encouraged such a rapid response but after much discussion between stewards, police and fans in the North Bank the incident fizzled out and the high vis jackets all faded back to where ever they had come from. Judging by their rapid deployment and sheer numbers I assume some massive security or safety threat must have presented itself but I am still in the dark as to what danger I was in or how my safety was enhanced by their actions. My enjoyment of the spectacle I had paid to watch was disrupted but to be fair how any of us could have enjoyed that performance is up for debate. An old guy. I use that term loosely, as he was probably ages with myself, was standing near one of the exits below me. His attention had also been attracted by the stewarding activities around our vociferous young choir and he joined in one of their melodies with great gusto bounced twice and rose his arms in the air to give them some encouragement. With out a word of warning the head steward orchestrated his removal from the ground. It is entirely possible that this man had committed some heinous offence prior to attracting my attention but he looked harmless and I could see nothing about his actions which caused alarm, danger or even annoyance to any other spectators. Maybe once again I had been saved from impending disaster because of swift stewarding action and the guy who had spent all that money not just to enter the ground but to travel all the way from Paisley to be entertained at a sporting event deserved to be short changed and thrown out on his ear miles from home long before the game ended. There is a big discussion ongoing about Football fans being criminalised for being Football fans and whilst I agree instances of misbehaviour have to be stamped out sometimes I wonder if fans might have a point. The stewards at Perth may have been acting in our best interests but to the casual observer it looked like overreaction, overkill and a horrendous abuse of the power they have been given to ensure our safety. No doubt I'm mistaken. It happens every other week. They must know what they are doing.

“Accepted defeat” 🤣 Does Lennon get the same then for making similar changes or is that somehow different? Flynn and Mullen have been pilloried on here for months saying they weren’t good enough. A lot of people were shouting for GMac to be let go due to his injury record and people have also been slating Lyons. All of a sudden it’s a disrespectful disgrace to leave them out of the team? FFS turn it up.

Flynn is carrying an injury and I understand Paul McGinn also has a knock. GMac hasn’t played for a year and Mullen for a good while too. Sensible for the manager to shake things up tonight with the more important game on Saturday in mind. In terms of the comparison to Forrest he has looked every inch a guy who’s played nearly 50 games in recent weeks. Not sure what the issue is here. It’s a squad game and guys like Kellerman, Corbu and Cooke all did well tonight and give us options over the last 6 games if required.

First of all, hello to the fuds that only post on here when we lose. I missed you during that good little run we had, but there was no doubt you would be back! A lot of negatives from last night. However, now is not the time to dwell on negativity with the biggest game of the season coming up on Saturday. I will only say to Kyle McAllister, Simeon Jackson, Brad Lyons, Andres Dreyer: you sorely let us down last night, you have a chance to fix that on Saturday (if the manager lets you on the pitch again.) What I will say is that St Mirren support was absolutely incredible last night. To travel in those numbers to Perth on a Wednesday night, after many had already travelled up for the game to be called off on Saturday was a great effort. To do so in the middle of the season from hell with only one win on the road is outstanding. And then to make that noise in the 2nd half and keep backing the team despite our only shot on goal being that stupid f**king penalty effort was incredible. We need to try and recreate that from 3 sides of the ground on Saturday. That means W3, 4, and 5 making noise as well. Time for everyone to up their game on Saturday. Amazingly we will still be in this if we get that win!

FFS. Try listening to the Sportsound podcast. David Currie was asking both Kenny Miller and Stephen McGinn about the high turnover in January. Both players talked about it taking time for players to get used to their team mates and the way of playing. More so in St Mirren's case due to the number of foreign players and language problems. He also said the guys had now fitted in well; communication had improved and that we now had a formation everyone was comfortable with and was getting results. Kenny Millar was saying Dundee were not in that position. But never miss a chance to have a go at everything St Mirren. Spin like Donald Trump.

This forum is a barrel of laughs, did we play a weakened team, Yes. Does this allow for a refreshed stronger side on Saturday , Yes. If we had played a stronger side there is no guarantee that it would have taken anything but it would then be a tired side on Saturday when if we lose the same people on here moaning would be moaning that we should have played a weaker side to save the legs. Some people are never satisfied! At the January transfer window we were 10 points behind 11th, we are now 11th and 2 points ahead of 12th, improvement has been made and will hopefully continue KTF

We missed a trick tonight........... The Keeper should have went off at the Banger incident.Terrible pains in his head, thought he had perforated eardrums. We had already used our subs so it would have put us down to 10 men with an outfield player in goals for the last few mins. Wouldn't have done us any good but it would have caused a lot of controversy. Am I bad?

Haven’t read any of the posts at all , can only imagine the initial responses to the line up .... probably the same as mine, wtf ? That said, I thought Cooke done very well, won most things in the air and chased well . Kellerman again was ok but looked f**ked after 30 mins. Corbu had a good game ..... & I’m sorry big Ferdy looks finished [emoji20] We never looked like winning but better teams than us will get stuffed by that Septic team. Thought Hladky again done well, Popescu and Baird were really good and Cammy Mac put in a helluva shift . Ach well , onwards and upwards

Without his header back across goal we don't score the second. Without him playing in Nazon to cross we don't score the first. If we don't score any goals we lose the game. He definetly contributed alot more than two nice touches. To say his contribution means nothing is just silly.

At the time, when I saw the team, I thought "aw shit". On reflection, it's been a gamble that somewhat paid off. We were never expecting a win from that game, at best a draw. We gave ourselves chances to get that draw. Other results went our way. Sometimes that's the wee bit of luck you need in a relegation battle. We should have a relatively fresh team to face Hamilton on Saturday. Now we need to go up there with a huge support and beat them.

We were around 1,700 fans down in Saturday. There are a few reasons for this; Saturday’s game was a relegation battle. Fans displaced from their normal seat. Playing Celtic and people expecting us to get hosed. Playing Celtic and people not wanting to expose themselves to their fans. Game was on the telly. Game was midweek, which always impacts the crowd. They all impact the home crowd and three of them would do so against any other opposition too so the extra cash is definitely welcome. GLS is running a business and cash flow is vitally important so any income streams have to be maximised. I understand this is an emotive issue but the only way to fix it, IMO, is to fill it (at least 75%) with season tickets.

I hated the team selection. But, I'd say OK is vindicated. Do you risk a Flynn carrying a heel injury? Do you risk others 1 booking away from a ban? Do you risk the sublime G Mac so soon after returning? And in the end some guys got the cobwebs off that may contribute from the bench in the run in. OK, no pun intended, results went our way and imo it's now game on. Fair enough we have to beat Hamilton at their own midden, but you know what, I now believe we can. Let's do this chaps!

I came on here today to soak up the feel good after us winning a “must win” game, hauling ourselves off the canvas following the loss of a 1st minute goal and the talk is about Dreyer (who had his best game yet and was involved in both goals) being a spineless shitebag who contributes nothing and Paul McGowan (a cup winning legend so deal with it) being a ned who we should boo. Maybe it’s the St Mirren “condition” but some people just need to live in the moment more and move out from under the cloud of negativity that follows them everywhere. Brilliant result. Everyone played their part. McKenzie, Mullen and Flynn were outstanding and showed that players from the Championship winning team can compete at this level.

    The Fans Are Needed.

We are all fans and we support / berate / criticise our team in our own ways. I will always support the team regardless of which league we are in, who is at the helm of the club , in charge of the team or who pulls on the shirt. I will be critical of the club, team or individuals when I see the need but I do get really pissed off by those who purport to be supporters yet take some perverse pleasure in glorying in those occasions where we are at our lowest ebb. We are St.Mirren , we will not win every game and have certainly no divine right to do so. This is what makes the highs so good , the period we are going through is tough, we dont need the usual suspects who revel in their shadenfraude . COYS .
