    Hearts And Us.

I hope Hearts are duly relegated. They deserve to punished, and if it means a season of crap football, followed by relegation to the first division then fair enough. When I was a kid, Hearts were in the first division due to the fact they had financial difficulties. Up until Mercer arrived and sorted them out anyway. This is coming to a few other "big" clubs and frankly, they deserve it. If you look at it from the fifteen point deduction ask yourself how many points IN FRONT of prudent clubs like us, the financially doped clubs were starting each season as they overleveraged on ridiculous wages to attract players we couldn't have afforded and they couldn't actually afford either. It is good news for Thistle too, they SHOULD be able to finish in the play off spot now and, frankly, they will bring a bigger support to us than Hearts do, and we will go through to them in decent numbers. Its better for the league. The more east coast pish we can get rid of and replaced by clubs nearer us, the better.

It would seem to me that this is becoming far more common and there is no real distinction as to which group of society is most guilty. On the odd occasion that I'm in mid cross and a vehicle starts to turn into a road, I'll at least hurry up and acknowledge my thanks to the driver for slowing down. The one category of jaywalker that brings out the worst in me and puts me into "Death Race 2000" mode, are the small groups of late teens/early twenties pond life, bedecked in all hues of coloured tracksuits, carrying their blue carry out containing plastic bags. They, despite seeing you in plenty of time, string themselves out in a shuffling line of detritus and give a glazed smirk in your direction, almost willing you to swerve in their direction.

    Hearts And Us.

Just sent this text to Radio Scotland for Gary Locke... ... I have nothing but respect for Hearts as a club. I have very good friends who bleed maroon blood. I like Hearts. I am good friends with someone who played 12 years at Tynecastle and have been awed by how this former player in his 80s has been treated by them. I truly like Hearts. But.... ... as a St mirren fan I have seen us rot in the lower league for years because we serviced debt rather than speculated. We were relegated after one season in the spl because we would not spend what we didn't have. We lost out captain to Rangers for higher wages than we would pay. We lost our keeper to Dunfermline as they paid him a higher wage. We lost a left back and a keeper to Killie for higher wages (note the clubs and who is next). We wanted to sign Craig Beattie... he was interested in signing till Hearts offered higher wages... he joined Hearts and helped them win a cup. Can Gary understand why it might be hard to empathise with hearts current situation when we have all seen it coming for years and other clubs, like Saints, have suffered for living within our means? I know how the environ MENTALISTS view things like plastic bags. In Ireland this has been attempted and it has actually led to more of the non biodegradeable bin liner type black bags being used. This is simply a tax dressed up as some sort of save the planet shite so that soft in the head bunny hugging leftarded wankers can applaud it. Oil is a natural substance. Everything eventually biodegrades, sometimes it take a bit longer, but it will still return to dust.

Plastic bags used to be good for making into hats when it started raining on your way to Scotland games at Hampden. You just don't see that anymore. Possibly died out at the same time as macaroon bars an' ra' spearmint choo-ing gum. Anyway, not sure if the poly bag issue is an independence deal breaker for me or not. Nicola Sturgeon appearing on TV waffling shite about an independent Scottish secret service replacing MI6 made me lean towards retaining the union. I remain open to persuasion either way, but Sturgeon is single-handedly doing a pretty good job in making me go out and buy a Team GB tracksuit top.... in a plastic bag costing zero pence.

    Hearts And Us.

I played golf with a guy yesterday who started out as a fellow Saints fan. We were having an interesting debate about Sevco and Hearts most of the way round. His opinion was that it was madness to take away the joint biggest club in the land and lose out on the revenue etc. I obviously disagreed. He also didn't want Hearts relegated for the same reasons. I pointed out that plenty of small local businesses are still out of pocket and that we don't actually miss them at all. They were fortunate that the SFL allowed them to transfer their membership to this new football club. I asked, do you think "we" would have been allowed to transfer our membership if "we" has been liquidated? Not a chance. It would be bye bye Saints hello Spartans. At this point I knew how the conversation was going to end. His argument was that who wants to watch the top game in Scotland as Celtic v Motherwell? He said the competitiveness was gone and we needed a Rangers. This was another easy one to bat back at him. Who cares about the challenge for Celtic and Motherwell got closer to Celtic than Rangers did in many recent seasons. Competitiveness? Games are more open now and better to watch. Both teams playing for wins rather than avoiding defeat. He then went on to the loss of revenue from the Rangers support but he was unaware that our largest league is against Killie and around 700 season ticket holders fail to turn up against the old firm. We were starting to get closer to his real angle, Hearts being relegated and being in the first division at the same time as Sevco. Only one club being promoted and Sevco deprived of promotion. Yes, he's a ***. He lost his bond seats etc when they went tits up. Shame I hope Hearts get relegated and bounce straight back keeping Sevco down for one more season.

Don't know that I can add anything significant. Over here the supermarkets and bigger shops really drove a campaign saying 'Do you know from 8th.of April this year you will be charged a minimum of 5p.for all plastic bags'. The supermarkets expected a big backlash when it came in but it didn't happen. Most folk accepted it and had been well warned. There has been a bit of aggro in some smaller shops when they sell you a well creased looking crappy white bag that looks like it has been used several times already. You can take in any old shitey bag you like for your shopping and there is never a word said. There is no sense that shops or supermarkets are trying to sell you bags. Taking your trolley out to the car and putting your shopping in cardboard boxes a la Reynard is applauded, not reviled. A thing that gets on my nerve is my lady wife ringing me and asking me to bring in a few things. Quite often it is enough that I need a bag and I admit I resent having to buy one. 6p. is an awful lot of money. Ask Shull. I wouldn't be surprised if you find that when it comes along, all the fuss will prove to be a storm in a teacup.

Yeah - OK. Even if I wanted to accept some of those bizarre statistics as fact you still look like you didn't read my post....you know, the one you quoted. As I have said in there, refuse depots already have staff on hand to sort the rubbish we throw away. Plastic products shouldn't be going to landfill if they are doing their job properly - and we could cut down on the waste that is created by all those new plastic bins that we all have sitting on our property. If the concern is about staffing levels well all Scottish Local Authorities currently have employees getting paid substantial amounts of money to sit in the house doing nothing all summer. Why not put all those teachers and lecturers to good use and let them earn their wage over the summer by putting them in these refuse plants to sort the rubbish? Why not put the local authority funded football development coaches to work in there too since they are in their down season period and doing very little as well? Plastic can be recycled. There is no good reason for any plastic to go to landfill or to waste - we just need to tackle the problem in a different way. Instead of ripping off the individual why not get the local councils to do their f**king job!

This is great news. The environmental impact on animals is bad. Can you now tell me if the same "save the wildlife" thing applies to the windfarm industry which has sprung up at mega subsidised by the taxpayers expense? Would you like me to start copying and pasting about the numbers of wild birds slain by the rotors of these vast useless heaps of failure that are springing up everywhere and are about to cause the lights to go out across the UK? All in the name of saving the planet of course.

It's an EU directive being rubber stamped throughout all the various parliaments and devolved assemblies. Just like 80% of all law being passed both at Westminster and Holyrood. Our politicians are simply faceless stooges which give a veneer of respectability to the lack of democratic process going on. As for plastic bags? It will do nothing, it will solve nothing and it is a further tax being added to the cost of living. Anyone that actually welcomes the opportunity to be taxed more, is, in my view, a stupid c**t.

I do the weekly shopping. Here is what I do. I go to supermarket, I put goods in trolley and go to checkout. I let the wifie scan them and I put them back into the trolley (no poly bags in sight). I pay up and f**k off to the car. I have a couple of heavy duty cardboard boxes in the boot of the car. I fill them up straight out the trolley. I close the boot. I take the trolley back. I drive home.

    Plastic Bag Charges

Its just a lame excuse to further tax people into poverty. Lets face it the packaging regulations for food in particular are driven by health and safety and food hygiene laws which are EU directives which are then gold plated by UK civil servants and then rubber stamped as law in the various parliaments. If the packaging is actually to blame, then surely we can aim a kick a the people responsible for the ridiculous amounts of packaging now required. You can barely even buy fish and chips without it now being packaged in some sort of polystyrene box thing. Its all very well blaming the shopkeepers/supermarkets. But they have to comply with the food hygiene laws as passed in the various parliaments. It is really the EU we need to be looking very closely at and why it has been able to remove sovereignty from the people and from our parliament. The plastic bag thing is still a load of shite that will prevent nothing at all. It is simply a tax.
