It would seem to me that this is becoming far more common and there is no real distinction as to which group of society is most guilty. On the odd occasion that I'm in mid cross and a vehicle starts to turn into a road, I'll at least hurry up and acknowledge my thanks to the driver for slowing down. The one category of jaywalker that brings out the worst in me and puts me into "Death Race 2000" mode, are the small groups of late teens/early twenties pond life, bedecked in all hues of coloured tracksuits, carrying their blue carry out containing plastic bags. They, despite seeing you in plenty of time, string themselves out in a shuffling line of detritus and give a glazed smirk in your direction, almost willing you to swerve in their direction.

    Hearts And Us.

Just sent this text to Radio Scotland for Gary Locke... ... I have nothing but respect for Hearts as a club. I have very good friends who bleed maroon blood. I like Hearts. I am good friends with someone who played 12 years at Tynecastle and have been awed by how this former player in his 80s has been treated by them. I truly like Hearts. But.... ... as a St mirren fan I have seen us rot in the lower league for years because we serviced debt rather than speculated. We were relegated after one season in the spl because we would not spend what we didn't have. We lost out captain to Rangers for higher wages than we would pay. We lost our keeper to Dunfermline as they paid him a higher wage. We lost a left back and a keeper to Killie for higher wages (note the clubs and who is next). We wanted to sign Craig Beattie... he was interested in signing till Hearts offered higher wages... he joined Hearts and helped them win a cup. Can Gary understand why it might be hard to empathise with hearts current situation when we have all seen it coming for years and other clubs, like Saints, have suffered for living within our means? Plastic Bag Charges

Yeah - OK. Even if I wanted to accept some of those bizarre statistics as fact you still look like you didn't read my post....you know, the one you quoted. As I have said in there, refuse depots already have staff on hand to sort the rubbish we throw away. Plastic products shouldn't be going to landfill if they are doing their job properly - and we could cut down on the waste that is created by all those new plastic bins that we all have sitting on our property. If the concern is about staffing levels well all Scottish Local Authorities currently have employees getting paid substantial amounts of money to sit in the house doing nothing all summer. Why not put all those teachers and lecturers to good use and let them earn their wage over the summer by putting them in these refuse plants to sort the rubbish? Why not put the local authority funded football development coaches to work in there too since they are in their down season period and doing very little as well? Plastic can be recycled. There is no good reason for any plastic to go to landfill or to waste - we just need to tackle the problem in a different way. Instead of ripping off the individual why not get the local councils to do their f**king job!

This is great news. The environmental impact on animals is bad. Can you now tell me if the same "save the wildlife" thing applies to the windfarm industry which has sprung up at mega subsidised by the taxpayers expense? Would you like me to start copying and pasting about the numbers of wild birds slain by the rotors of these vast useless heaps of failure that are springing up everywhere and are about to cause the lights to go out across the UK? All in the name of saving the planet of course.

It's an EU directive being rubber stamped throughout all the various parliaments and devolved assemblies. Just like 80% of all law being passed both at Westminster and Holyrood. Our politicians are simply faceless stooges which give a veneer of respectability to the lack of democratic process going on. As for plastic bags? It will do nothing, it will solve nothing and it is a further tax being added to the cost of living. Anyone that actually welcomes the opportunity to be taxed more, is, in my view, a stupid c**t.

    Plastic Bag Charges

Its just a lame excuse to further tax people into poverty. Lets face it the packaging regulations for food in particular are driven by health and safety and food hygiene laws which are EU directives which are then gold plated by UK civil servants and then rubber stamped as law in the various parliaments. If the packaging is actually to blame, then surely we can aim a kick a the people responsible for the ridiculous amounts of packaging now required. You can barely even buy fish and chips without it now being packaged in some sort of polystyrene box thing. Its all very well blaming the shopkeepers/supermarkets. But they have to comply with the food hygiene laws as passed in the various parliaments. It is really the EU we need to be looking very closely at and why it has been able to remove sovereignty from the people and from our parliament. The plastic bag thing is still a load of shite that will prevent nothing at all. It is simply a tax.

Clearly not. They only have right away if they have started to cross the road before a vehicle turns into the road they are on from the junction. They don't have the complete right away that they can step out and get their leg trapped in the wheel of a bus which is what happened yesterday. Some quotes from The Highway Code. "If you have to step into the road, look both ways first. Always show due care and consideration for others." " First find a safe place to cross and where there is space to reach the pavement on the other side. Where there is a crossing nearby, use it. It is safer to cross using a subway, a footbridge, an island, a zebra, pelican, toucan or puffin crossing, or where there is a crossing point controlled by a police officer, a school crossing patrol or a traffic warden. Otherwise choose a place where you can see clearly in all directions. Try to avoid crossing between parked cars (see Rule 14), on a blind bend, or close to the brow of a hill. Move to a space where drivers and riders can see you clearly. Do not cross the road diagonally." "If traffic is coming, let it pass" At a junction. "If you have started crossing and traffic wants to turn into the road, you have priority and they should give way" Even if it did the crossing discussed isn't a junction.

So, it's ok for you with your carload of poly bags to expect to pay for more bags. What about poor people with no cars that they can load up, who only have time and money to buy odd things as and when they can? Should they be charged for supermarket shopping bags and subsidise your dvds, shirts and trainers bags?

They've not been punished AT ALL.The club went out of business due to its own venal actions. A new business, bearing (pun intended) a similar name, was permitted - for no good or moral reason - to leapfrog all the others better qualified to join the Scottish Footballing organisations. Please stop being your usual apologist for that discredited shambles. There's still millions of unpaid taxes that a so-called war chest could help to pay off.

    Steven Doris

A trial is a sensible request by doris. He comes with a decent record/reputation but wants to get first team games. That's why he's coming here instead on going south. (plus the wage difference is not that great and this is nearer family). By having a trial Danny will have a better idea of how close Doris is to being a starter and how he will be used in the team. Questions Doris wants answered before signing. Show the boy is intelligent, determined and ambitious

Div should allow love street to open his own topic, in which he lists these four signings he says he knows we've made...or whatever crap he's saying is gonna happen with transfers. Then Div locks it immediately so no one can see it. Then it's opened for all to see the first day of the season.

The void (or, more accurately, "da void") is what comes out of the mouths of residents in the Bronx area of New York. Sometimes they speak of 'da void on da streets'.
