  1. Is it white smoke?Maybe it's smoke to signal they've found a buyer.

  2. If you're so confident of what's going to happen in the future can I have tonight's Euromillions numbers too, then, please? His economic policy didn't fool me for a moment, I had investigated the potential many, many years before and I am equally confident that an independent Scotland would be a prosperous, thriving & generous place to live & work. Given how many have been converted to this pov there aren't really that many left to win over. It's when, not if, in my opinion.

  4. Every club in Scotland lives with the permanent fear of their better youth players being snapped up by one of the OF. Clubs can spend years developing players only to find that they move on. This can, and does happen at any age group. If Kieran Doran wants to study and only play part-time, then I'm sure the club and the player's reps could reach some agreement. The tricky bit would be if the boy goes to a part-time club for a period and then pitches up at sizable Scottish Premiership or Championship club. I guess that this scenario is what St Mirren are trying to protect themselves against.

  5. I suspect the contract St Mirren have in place for players in their youth development programme will be a standard one used by most Scottish clubs who develop young players. Developing young players is part of St Mirren,s business plan , which is to produce young players for the first team , and also hopefully produce players that can be sold on for a development fee. Falkirk , are very good at this and have made substantial amounts of money ( I have heard £2 million ) , from selling on teenagers. I think the whole issue is more than just the player concerned . To survive , smaller clubs need to have a contract in place so that they are rewarded for the youngsters development . Without any sort of contractual agreement , parents and agents would just have young players just moving from one club to another for whatever reward they are able to get , and there just isn,t that kind of money in Scottish football.

  8. Maybe it's a pissing contest to you - I haven't got the remotest interest in shite like that - all I ever do in threads like this is give legally accurate information based on my qualified expertise, which is exactly what I did. Others clearly have a chip on their shoulder and a misguided and incorrect interpretation of what they believe the laws are and how they work. People can take the correct information I give, or leave it, it's no skin off my nose - one thing I don't have is an ego. I think I demonstrated that in the referendum thread when I walked away after similar crap directed at me - just as I'm doing here and now.

  9. The Tommy revolution is starting to kick in. We are the team on the up, we are the team hitting form, we are the footballing side all others will compare themselves against, we are the exciting package, we are the epitomy of good football, we are what everyone else aspires to be, we are the greatest, the best, the most wonderful and we are where we are. I do not know the outcome of this footballing match and I have given up on trying to predict our scores, needless to say I will settle for the scrappiest, most pantaloons match as long as the precious 3 points remain in Paisley with our heroes and at our stadium of hope and dreams. Tommy will conjure of that you can be sure.

  14. Of course there are people in Scotland that hate the English , l have met people in various countries throughout the world , that hate them. The old colonies like the Caribbean states and Australia are the worst for it. . However , it is wrong of Annie to attribute that to the nation as a whole, she is generalising which is wrong, ,l would say it just isn't prevalent in our society . Scots are far more tolerant than other nations when it comes to race . . I reckon Annie's agent told her that she needed some publicity and to make a controversial statement. . . .as for Jim Murphy getting called a Quisling , that is shocking. . . . .l can actually think of a far better slur. .

    New Buyers?

I moved to Glenburn in 1954 during the summer holidays and started in Blackland House just about right away. It was still the local library at that time too. i was the only new kid in the class but lo and behold a certain Archie Gemmill turned up a few weeks later and became the new kid on the block.

You must be an old yin. I moved to Donaldswood Road when aged 10 and the big house was used as a nursery. Lived in the last house right across St Aelreds school which is all houses now.

  21. Yeah David. I read that on the FIFA website then went to the FIFA categorisation for each individual association. You appear to have stopped short. The calculation also takes into account a ratio of how many players an association takes to get one to turn pro and theres a few other factors but the highest ratio is based on the amount paid in wages, bonuses and expenses hence why juvenile football clubs at Wishaw Wycombe level dont pursue compensation for developing players. I would imagine that if this case ever went to a tribunal the fact that St Mirren have failed to pay the contracted amount would be enough to see this kid walk for free. Theres more interesting and more informed people, particularly in the specifics of this case, than me posting on this thread. The only thing I would add is a few questions - at what age did Doran sign for St Mirren? Did he come with previous football experience or did he come directly off the street?

  22. So you've got no idea what is and isn't in this contract, or indeed the custom and practice which exists at every Scottish profesional fotball club in relation to youth players like the one discussed here.. You coild have saved a load of time at the outset and said "I don't know "

so why does this thread "even bother you ffs"

  24. Why would this even bother you ffs? For what it's worth. It was a piece about Lennon saying he wouldn't rule out moving for Celtic players (his previous team) in the next transfer window. I reckon that's Glasgow - one half at least - news worthy. I wouldn't worry, i doubt STV will have a weekly Bolton piece just because it's Lennon.

  27. Where have you been for the last 50 years!!!! Anti-English sentiment is unfortunately rife in Scotland and ranks alongside the other bigotry we know and hate. It's just that nationalism is seen as some kind of glorious gesture rather than the nasty form of self-indulgent bigotry it is. Nothing good ever comes from nationalism - look around the world and see the multitude of schisms it has created. The only good nationalism is internationalism.

  28. Read a bit of all this and got bored. My main thought is that someone, somewhere, has registered the signing and no doubt checked the contract.

  29. I said it before and I'll repeat it: It's pretty obvious he now doesn't want to play for the Buddies. He wants to pursue a university education. He may want to continue playing football at some level. The best way out of this is for St Mirren to say to Kieran "ok we understand your position and hopefully you see ours. You wish to pursue a different career through a university degree and we fully support that. As a result we will release you from the contract as long as you don't put pen to paper with any other professional or semi-professional football club for the next (say 5 years or whatever the legal period is for development players). If you do then we will expect repayment of all development costs and if appropriate any fee that we at St Mirren would be entitled to, if you joined another club, as a result of work we have put into you". There sorted!

  30. Yes the country did appear to move on during the referendum debate - not in terms of attitude or rhetoric, just in terms of language. Instead of talking about being anti-English, the Yes Campaign changed the language so we were now anti-"London", anti-"Westminster", anti-"Tory Toffs", anti-"privately educated people", anti"BBC", and anti-"UKIP voters" which the Yes Campaign seemed to believe the whole of England was now most likely to be. I haven't seen Annie Lennox's comments anywhere but if she has indeed said what you claim she has, I would be in full agreement with her. It's about time Scots learned to define ourselves as what we are - and not what we are "anti". It's also very much time that we stopped blaming England for anything negative in Scotland and started owning up to Scotlands own failings. Some Yes Campaigners, even on this thread, claimed that we needed independence to take responsibility for our own actions - well we don't!

  32. If possible I would like to get back on subject and talk about the contract dispute. Here is what I know: 1. The club bent over backwards for this kid - in the year when he had his £1 a week contract he is talking about he was unsure of his future to the point that he never came into the club for a full year - it is correct he didn't receive payment on his contract for the period but he was nowhere near the club for a year. 2. The boy and hid Dad have been angling for him to leave the club and his Dad quoted as saying he could just go and play for Queens Park. Who is the Manager? Gus obviously who is very bitter against the club and would do anything to get under its skin 3. Gus and Liam O'Donnell are close friends. Do you think it is only a coincidence that Liam O'Donnell is the lawyer representing Kiaran? I definitely smell a rat here. It gets even murkier when you consider the fact that Liam O'Donnell is also an agent and runs a business that Gus is also involved in. I would suggest that being a PFA lawyer and an agent is definitely a conflict of interests. The club have done nothing wrong here apart from supporting the boy and in turn are getting shafted and hung out to dry by the boy and his Dad. They should be ashamed of themselves and I hope he is seen for the little rat that he is.

  35. POSITIVITY ! Where has that come from? SMP should be substantially more upbeat than usual for this one with us being on a decent run and the guys getting the singing section going in W5. Hopefully the players don't let us down. 1-0 Saints. Ball.

  36. Hopefully the international break will give the injured players time to recover. 2 very winnable games coming up and if we could have 13 points after playing everyone that would actually be a decent 1st quarter and something to build on.
