Nope, we're paying the price now because a decision was made to start him against lower league opposition when he wasn't anywhere near fit enough. The manager admitted so after the game.

    Johann Lamont Resigns

soap box jim was always a stick on for this. If he comes across as a total fud (which he is) and the going get s tough, he'll probably get a henchman to crack an egg across his impenetrable dome in holyrood, claim it was nicola sturgeon, then resign. Him and about Labour suit each other down to a T.

  7. And may I just echo that Scanlon is one of my top 3 favourite ever players to play for St. Mirren along with McGarvey & McAvennie. I don't think its too extreme to say that Ian Scanlon was a genius. His 40 yarder against Celtic to put the cap on an incredible 4-2 over Celtic is possibly the greatest goal I've ever seen scored. I was right behind the Love Street end as it went flying in and that moment was magical. Ian Scanlon was a player who would get you excited every single time he got the ball. Ian Scanlon on the ball was a beautiful sight. As you will guess, there aren't enough superlatives I can use when it comes to this guy. He was the Scottish Cristiano Ronaldo!

  9. Barraso told us by voting 'No' in the referendum we were maintaining EU status, the 'fruitcake' is asking for that guarantee of EU membership to be honoured. Given all the nonsense talked about the EU in UK politics it seems odd to select Sturgeon for the 'fruitcake' title on this subject

Incorrect, Thommo himself said he needed to test himself in a match game to see whether he was okay, it had to be done.

  13. One other fact, PPG were not formed as a Company until 1992. Therefore unless Messer Murray is infact the Doctor then your claim that they took the lease in 1982 was not possible.
    2 points
  14. You have again created fiction from a series of facts. Firstly PPG (Murray) bought the shopping centre from Haselmere Estates (not the Scottish Government)in 2004 for £36m. (not 40p) They were then forced by the banks last year to sell the property in a 10 property portfolio to Catalyst Capital for circa £46m. (I doubt he made any money off the deal) In 1989 it was Edinburgh City Council that sold the lease not the Scottish Government and David Murray was not party to the deal. The long lease Scotland act was brought in to define proper ownership of land. Historically large land owners undertook a transaction for land/property that was in the merits of it a sale. They sold the property that sat on the land for market value but retained the rights to the land for a ridiculous length of time. The Scotland Act was brought in to transfer the ownership of long leases to the people who had basically bought the land trying to rectify an act that had been in place since the time of Oliver Cromwell.

  15. I never said he did but the effect of the "all things to voters" approach was that the Better Together alliance was never pinned down on what they were going to offer afterwards. The general assumption that we would get extra powers with no cost either financially or to our MP's status at Westminster has been shown up as the myth we all knew (or at least should have known) it would be but I don't blame the BT for spinning rather the Yes campaign for letting them get away with it. Happier with Nicola Sturgeon asking for a Scottish/Welsh/Northern Irish veto on the UK leaving the EC in the event of a referendum on this issue after the next General election. As I'm going to have to live in the UK for the immediate future I support anything that might limit the extent to which the Conservative Party panders to the Little Englander tendencies of UKIP voters. Winning the Referendum wasn't a free ticket for 20 years and it is those suggesting it was that are trying to circumvent the norms of politics.

Has Twitter etc, overtaken an 'old fashioned' forum like this? Is it just the numpties left, like me? Should we go too? Lot of questions, just wondering like..........

  22. Do agree with a lot of what you say. Going away to the likes of Aberdeen and Dundee Utd is always going to be extremely tough for any St Mirren team though. Certainly tougher than say, going to St Johnstone or Partick Thistle. We will lose these kind of games away to the city teams 80% of the time I'd guess. One advantage we will have is our free midweek. As I type United are beating Hibs 2-1 in Leith. Let's hope that goes to extra time and our freshness is a factor at the weekend.

And regarding the end of last season, one of Danny's most mystifying decisions last year (and there were plenty) was in the penultimate game of the season at Kilmarnock. We had clinched our safety against County a few days prior and it was widely known Thommo had been carrying a knock and had an op scheduled. I wasn't expecting he'd be near the squad. 'Lo and behold I get to the game and I find he's not only in the squad, but he's starting!

  28. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-29141474 IOBS might have been a bit premature as there's still two days left in October but just think all of all those extra concessions made because of a speech by an ex-PM which every No voter that I've come across (Oooh errr missus!) claims didn't sway their vote!

No way should he be expected to play in all those games. TC and the rest will have to be cautious and clever with their choices and we still need the rest of the players to step up to the plate.

  32. Only on this forum could we progress,or do I mean regress, from 5p bags and polar bears to the SNP, governments generally and even David F**king Murray! Who is responsible? I still think it's a big unnecessary hoo-hah which will soon fade until next year when the 55 million plus population of England gets it. I don't think there is any doubt it helps the environment and charities are benefitting in Northern Ireland.I use Asda a lot and there 6p bags are pretty good and as soon as it gets a bit tatty or gets a hole in it ( that can be arranged) you get a replacement free of charge. In fact in Asda the staff encourages it. We've had the tax here for eighteen months and I like to think I've maybe saved a polar bear's rear left leg by now.

Gotta agree with that. The trolls seem to be the forum mainstays these days. I've had a couple of posters including one from arbroath who followed every post i made to try and get a rise.... I put it down to their recovery time between frenetic online masturbating sessions, and the low self esteem they have for themselves immediately afterwards.

    The Leagues Youngest Team

After reading this, I thought I'd do the maths, using the starting 11's of all 12 SPFL teams this weekend to work out the average age. Here's the table: 1) St Mirren 23.72 2) Celtic 24.18 3) Partick Thistle 24.36 4) Hamilton 24.72 5) Kilmarnock 25.18 6) ICT 25.81 7) Aberdeen 26.00 8) Dundee Utd 26.00 9) Ross County 26.81 10) Dundee 27.18 11) St Johnstone 29.81 12 Motherwell 30.18 There you go. We are the youngest team in the league, and by a bit of a distance too. The club and management deserve credit for that, especially given so many of these young players are graduates from our academy. The teams on either side of us in the league - Well and St Johnstone - have over 6 years experience on us on average. Our young players have been thrown into the deep end given our injuries, and I think they're doing okay all things considered. Especially given how bad a start we had in losing first 5 games. To turn that around and get us out of and then clear of the bottom 2 by the 11th game is pretty impressive stuff. Here's hoping the experience they're gaining stands us in good stead for the rest of the campaign, we continue to improve and we keep moving up the league.

Probably, this forum seems to entertain forumites only interested in how many posts they have! Footy discussions whether you agree or not are a thing of the past. Just put a one word answer after this and let your posts total go up. No debate, political discussion, difference of opinion... God forbid.
