  1. Emails, photographs, come down to the ground to collect a ticket ??? FFS just sell the £2 tickets in the uni! Why make a simple task so difficult. I get the trying to encourage more fans ,but this seems to be a long way for a shirt cut.

  2. What about a discount for those who have been there through thick and thin??? Absolutely shocking, but ST Mirren through and through! It appears that UWS now run the club, so perhaps some of the students could ask their Dean to get Murray hunted?

  5. Other clubs have done this too. Getting their email address is the key point of the scheme. If £2 tickets are sold at the gate, the students can go to the game then leave and never be heard of again.By getting their email addresses, they can then be contacted about offers for other games, club info, spreading the word etc. It's an attempt to make their attendance and involvement more than a one off.

  9. Despite the posts above, I think this ... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-34931594 ..is a sensible and great bit of news for the area... ( Though not great for cabbies...) The costs cited are much lower than as quoted above by Bobby F. Taxis don't want a Paisley Fare, the shortroods bus wastes time, then you need to change to the train with no signage to the station and grumpy uncommunicative bus drivers... I've witnessed it. It didnae work. GOOD NEWS.

I would try Howieson just behind Gallagher, in a really high pressing supporting role, like McLean used to do. But there is zero point in playing any combination if we're not going to play ball to feet and get good service to the front men.

  14. One upfront was useless on our last visit there, so he must change it and go with two up top. I thought originally Shankland and Gallagher as a pairing was our best shot, but they need delivery instead of this hoofing up the park rubbish.

To be fair the problem is the team getting the passes Into the box which they are not achieving Week in week out the midfield goes missing so the strikers are feeding off scraps. I cannot bear to watch another game punting the high ball it's embarrassing . My opinion on these two as our strike force confirms another day of high balls. The defence seems to be getting off lightly with our recent performances . I've watched it for months now if it's not getting booted high it's getting headed high. Are these players not clever enough to know when they have time to control a ball and take a touch then pass . This is because nobody wants the bloody thing cause they're terrified to make a mistake so punt it right up the park as far as you can make someone else het for it it's like playing tig with a ball total disgrace. Rant over I'm going for ma Friday pint ????

    St Mirren Under 20's 2015/16

Remember how Motherwell scored from a free-kick against the under-20s a few months back because Dan Wilks held onto the ball for more than six seconds? Same happened to Liverpool last night. Mignolet had the ball for 20 seconds so he quite rightly got done for it. However, I see from the BBC stats he didn't get booked - but Wilks did. I'd have thought that was a pretty clear cut thing - it's not as if you have to use your judgement like you would to decide how bad a tackle was - so one of the two officials is wrong. My money's on the Scottish one...

  41. I do get the impression that it is a money go round, guys getting appointed then paid off handsomely, Craig, Teale, and some players - how many have taken a wedge to leave, when they should not have been appointed/played in the first place ? There is something wrong with the amount we pay out compared to what we pull in from player sales, ultimately we have financed this money go round and we are the only one's frustrated by it.

Actual give up when I read things like this, Mallan is the most talented player in our squad by a mile. Only reason he doesn't shine even more is the ball gets lumped over his head repeatedly and when he does have it the movement ahead of him is shocking. He's meant to be off to Fleetwood in January anyway so I'm sure he will flourish down there.

Maybe the trick is to get him on the ball more often He won't do that as the ball whizzes over his head most of the time

And so it begins... Have you learned nothing from watching Krnny McLean then John McGinn get abuse from our own "supporters" whilst often playing out of position in amongst a team of shit... only to move on and receive adulation from others when supported and helped to play to their potential?

  45. The reason why they don't appear "very bright", is because the flood lights are focussed on the pitch itself (enabled by computerised precision no less, IIRC) and there is very little "wasted" light to light up the surroundings i.e.non pitch areas. Most other club's lights are extremely wasteful, with respect to lighting up non-pitch areas. GLS described this very fact at some point when the new stadium was being constructed.

  46. During much of the 80s, we had Aberdeen and Dundee Utd doing well in Europe. Aberdeen won the Cup Winners Cup, and Utd reached a European Cup semi final and a UEFA Cup Final. Both clubs were fairly regularly beating good teams from England, Germany and Spain. There are probably various reasons why things have gone wrong, with the Bosman Ruling a very significant factor. But I'm always very sceptical when the media or either of the OF bemoan the current state of Scottish football or the level of competition, as let's face it, those two clubs have effectively run the game for their own benefit over the past 30 odd years. It was the OF that decided that home clubs should keep their own gates, which clearly improved their own financial status and denigrated those of their rivals. It was the OF that decided to flex that financial muscle by bringing in players from England and abroad on massively over inflated wages, and by continuing to hoover up the best Scottish talent and usually leave it sitting in the stands or on the subs bench. David Murray famously challenged the other clubs to speculate in order to bring success. It ended up with Celtic being saved at the last minute by Fergus McCann and Rangers eventually being liquidated. Other clubs also ran up huge debts, which has led to many clubs going into Administration or finding other creative ways to shed debt. There's a lot wrong with Scottish football, but a good starting point would be to run the game for the overall good of the game from grassroots to senior level, rather than for the benefit of two clubs, that have, at times, proved incapable of managing themselves never mind Scottish football.
